Top 5 Games of Last Gen

Postby tadpole25 » Jan 27th, '13, 18:17

Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era

1. Half Life 2
An artistic and technical masterpeice, with plenty of unique qualities and excellent storytelling.

2. Metroid Prime
Immersive, beautiful, atmospheric and memorable.

3. Halo: Combat Evolved
Classic sci-fi military action. Brought FPS games on the map before they came cliche.

4. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Had style, character, a huge amount of content, customization and diversity.

5. Resident Evil 4
Suspenseful action and survival horror at their best. Brains and survival skills meets instinct.

What's your top 5?

Maybe words offensive - free speech I don't fear it
Maybe music can take us to a place so atmospheric
Beyond our greatest imagination, illuminatin' experience
If we open our ears and close our inhibitions, it's clear"

Resident Evil 4 was so badass. The game was awesome and every minute spent playing was worth it.

Those chainsaw guys were assholes though.

Never got to finish RE4 as I am scared of the creatures in that game (mainly the fly people & the spider boss)

Halo and Halo 2
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Grand Theft Auto 3
Half-Life 2
Jak and Daxter

Plenty of honorable mentions like Resident Evil 4, the first Fable, Max Payne, Star Wars Battlefront 2, GTA: San Andreas, Sonic Adventure for the Gamecube, the last-gen Mortal Kombats (I like Deception the best).

lol no. It just seems like it cause CoD is so popular. Call of Duty and Battlefield are the only big military shooters really. This gen has been amazing as well. Unless you only own an Xbox...

granted, there are great games of this gen, but probably 2/3 of them have been shooters.

Memorable RPG's have been practically non-existent this gen. Strategy, survival horror, platformers, action adventure, just doesn't compare to last gen.

I have to give props to Super Mario Galaxy though. It was one of the most fun games I've played, and it was the most original of the generation.

Most of them HAVE been shooters. Which sucks because there are far too many of them and they're all the same. I wish that they had made better RPGs and everything, RPGs during the 90's were great and then in the 2000's they got corny. Get some platformers back too, I miss those a whole lot. They should go back to making games like Banjo-Kazooie and Conker...damn you Rare for going out of business.

Vice City
Final Fantasy X

Played those two heaps but I was mostly a PC gamer. I have owned a PS3 for years and only bought my first game 2 weeks ago (Red Dead Redemption). I really only use it as a media server.
