my review of Justin Timberlake's-Future Sex/Love Sounds

Postby j_shady » Sep 17th, '06, 14:38

I gotta say that i'm really impressed on how this album turned out, i remember him saying a few years ago that his second album would have a more different sound than his debut "Justified"..right then and there i was skeptical because Justified itself was a solid debut w/ hits like "Like I Love You", "Cry Me A River", "Rock Your Body" etc. This second effort isnt no where close to Justifed, its a step higher..he stepped away from a "poppy boy-band"-ish sound to more pop sound that, dare i say, is for the grown and sexy. Timbaland does a great job on this album, kudos to Timbo for making a hit album and a great year. Where Pharrell held Justified as his piece, Timbo holds Future Sex/Love Sounds as his. these 2 have great chemistry, they know each others strong points and when it becomes too predictable they hit us w/ a track like "Sexy Back"..i wont lie, the first time i heard it i wasnt feeling it like i felt "Like I Love You" but as i got to listen to it more i started to like it more and more...i gues thats what pop music does to their listeners. when people say that this album has no filler tracks, theyre not lying..every track on this album can atleast be a single for the radio or a club hit. the arrangements of the tracks is done well also, Justin keeps the party going and slows it down at the end..unlike Justified where it was mixed from upbeat songs and then all of a sudden a slow jam. I give Justin credit for throwing himself to an urban culture where its hard to get respect, especially if youre a white guy doing R&B..at the end he gets the hip hop and urban cultures seal of approval.

The stand out tracks for me of course would have to be "My Love", which is pretty much the second single, "Chop Me Up" which i would consider as a club hit..no doubt in about a week or two Hip Hop clubs will playing the shit out of this record. "What Goes Around" "Damn Girl" are what people are saying part 2's of "Cry Me A River" and "Rock Your Body"..me i'll juss say its not either. this album from begining to end is very enjoyable and like i said every track on this album can be a single or club hit. the preludes/interludes works well, it blends well, almost telling a story of how he got to writing that song..this cd pretty much kicked my Panic! At The Disco cd out of my stereo haha. "Losing My Way" tells a great story of a man that has gotten to bad place in his life and wants to go back right all his wrongs. umm theres nothing else i can say but dont judge a book by its cover, yeah he was in NSync but looks like w/ this album he has left his Mickey Mouse Club, boy band ways and has become an even more respectable singer/song writer.

*well thats it, thats my review..my first time ever giving a real review*
