cityfan, you are taking yourself too seriously because you live by the team you support.

Although, I do see where you're coming from.

The problem is, if you don't come from a certain place, there may not be a great team to support. I'm from New Zealand--a rugby mad country--and our only professional football team is fucking useless. It's just bad quality football compared to a top league.

But I agree, in my experience, International fans are no where near as die hard as local fans.

OK we definitely have a split down this forum on this point.

Those of you who follow a local team will probably agree with me and those of you who don't will argue that you love your club no matter how far away you are.

I wasn't picking on any individuals on this forum, I don't know the reasons behind whoever you support and you're free to support whoever you want.

And I've never claimed I'm a bigger fan of my club than any of you are. Francesco, inferiority complex? Inferior about what? I know enough about football and I've seen enough of my team to know that I can back my opinions up against anyone, even a retired professional such as yourself. I have nothing to prove to anyone.

But, as a general rule, I still say that you cannot experience football to it's fullest if you are watching a foreign superclub from miles away on the TV or the internet. There's a level of involvement that you can't have. And I still maintain that speaking generally, most people who support Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, United from abroad have no connection to the club and picked them because they are the best team.

cityfan, I do see where you're coming from, and I understand you and your points.


For me, though, I don't only follow them on the internet and TV. I am also in the staff of the official supporter club for Barcelona in Norway (Penya Blaugrana Del Nord). We are official as in that FC Barcelona has "blessed" us officially. We have almost 1000 members. We provide news, magasines, and we have started with tours to Barcelona once or twice a year (that's the plan at least). Our first tour was in March, but I didn't go because I had spent all my money on the Las Vegas trip I am having in summer.
I have to respond to e-mails daily by members who ask about tickets and such. We have our own Barcelona pub here in Oslo.

What I wanna say that we're still trying to experience football and our club to the fullest even though we live far away.
Lello is doing his thing by having Chelsea gatherings during the matches. We do what we can

That is an issue with me, I really hate watching the sport with people especially when Juventus is playing lol. I only know like three other fans.

My Facebook and Twitter feed is full of Barca haters. I saw it so much yesterday, no wonder why I flipped out on Lello and FreeDoom for few minutes. I must stop doing that and just be above it, like Rev. He has finally learned. I haven't. I still flip out, lol, but only for few minutes.

I'm looking forward to Dortmund vs Real today, should be a cracking match. Still pretty surprised that Gotze decided to move onto Bayern though..

Yeah Sajn, like I say, I wasn't talking about anybody here. More just football fans in general and bemoaning the bandwagon mentality.

It's all good. And I hope I didn't appear to be taking myself too seriously. That would not be my aim! I suppose I'm trying to distract attention from the scum winning the league back and also distract myself because I have Final exams in 6 weeks and I should be revising. It's a very painful time.
