The deal is near done, it only needs Tottenham's president to be reasonable.
He's definitely trying to cash in on Modric as much as possible. I don't blame him though, Modric is an awesome player and I doubt Tottenham will be able to replace him. The deal is reported to be around £36m. The funny thing is, Tottenham rejected a £40m offer from Chelsea last summer. Their owner has been reluctant to sell him to another Premier League club.
Unless Madrid sell Kaka, I don't see why they want Modric. You already have Ozil who's one of the best playmakers in the world. Isn't Kaka pretty much the Ozil backup? Modric can play deeper though, so perhaps that's where Mourinho wants to play him? Even then, you have Alonso.
Madrid should sell Kaka back to Milan for 13millions, like Milan offered. He's not worth a lot nowadays anyway.
