My footballing weekend

I support Chesterfield Fc in League 2, Englands 4th oldest football club.

We've been playing in our ground, Saltergate, since 1871, and since the football league was formed, we've never not been at a Professional level as far as league and running of the club..

But next season we're in a new ground And our last game in the beautiful shit hole was on Saturday.. Footballs oldest running ground.. Saying goodbye..

It was an emotional day. It was packed in the stands.

Bournemouth took the lead, it went silent. I was thinking, surely, surely it can't end like this..

10 minutes from time, our leading striker, Jack Lester blasts in the equalizer.

From there, we all hold our breaths. We do everything. Even chuck on youngsters who have hardly had a game at this level..

It's a throw in. In the final minute of the 6 that had been added on. Ian Breckin, our captain, knocks in down. And up strolls Derek Niven. Maybe the most unattractive guy i have ever seen in my life. But in Chesterfield he is legend. Hardly missed a game in all the years he's been with us (still only 24). Hardest working player i've ever seen (think Gerrard type tackles and running back, but with less flair lol). Also, on a more serious note, last year he was diagnosed with cancer, and missed a couple of months recovering.

The legend only goes and cracks it in the bottom corner.

Tell me about it, Tho trust me! if it where to happen there be so many aspects to it you wouldnt like.

I can imagine, I really can. As much as I love the Prem, the fans in the CCC where SO much better than most Prem fans. You get less of these ship-jumpers in the Champ and more die-hard fans, which I love.

Plus, say Newcastle got really successful any fan that was associated with the club would be labelled a glory-hunter (like Chelsea, even though they probably have a hardcore fanbase like any other team).

Pretty much, I think i got a choice between a home or away season ticket next season and as much as it pains me to say it im embarresed of what the bridge has become. The only time theres any kind of support its for when (like yesterday) something big is achieved, I noted at Stoke's ground especially there fans are passionate EVERY game and i miss that. Alot of our core support seem to just do away's now an i think il def be joining them. Tho on the flipside if Roman hadn't of come in when he did we could be out of business so gotta take the good with the bad really.

Yeah Man City will experience the same thing, probably, if they get to your level.

And away games are way better than home anyway. Atmosphere is fucking crazy at away games, compared to home.

It's horrible when you lose though - the journey back hurts.
