I can't ever follow tutorials myself. Slimm pretty much taught me what I know years ago via PSD files, and now I get better by experimenting (and asking others on the PSX forums how they did certain things).

I can't blend a render in for shit. :facepalm

Heh, maybe it's because I'm tired? I have stayed up all night. Oh well, here's my result, looking nothing like I hoped it'd look like. Tried blending in the render - it just turned to shit on me so I left that out.

That's not bad for a first attempt. Let me make a suggestion: Don't blend your render as wide; try to keep it a bit more contained like in mine. Also, if you're having trouble making the blending look natural, set one of the render smudge layers to soft light (to brighten things up) and set the opacity to what feels natural.
