"Why English is tough"

well i'm in spanish and dutch here and UW-Madison and both of my professers said within the first week that we're lucky to have learned english first, grammer and syntax of other languages is much more procedural. english has many execptions and goofy rules. the UN thing was from my dutch class, we watched a movie on european schools teaching second langages. it was sum german professer reading something out of the transcripts of the UN where butrus was defending someone who was speaking english poorly.

its different for people though, its hard to generalize i agree.

But i know for fact that for example english people cant learn languages that arent related to english for shit. its just too different and too many new sounds.

but people from say europe or in my case from russia find it very easy to learn english.


English does have goofy rules but the way to learn em is too just speak, ull get it in time, other languages like Greek for example are just more complex.

i guess i have no outside experience w/ living in non-english speaking areas so i have no idea really. Maybe he was getting at for 'us' it was easiest to learn english first. I'm definatly not dissing other langagues or saying english is the best some how.

Just what i know from personal experience, my dutch and spanish classes are easier than the gay rules i learned in 4th grade in english class. I guess it all comes down to specific situations though.

Whatever is the easiest language for you is the easiest for you. I guess i could see that being the truth and there not being some specific easiest.


ps ASP where you from? is it 3am there?

actually i wouldn't be surprised if i heard that just because of the "America is Best" attitude most people here have. other than our language... america sux ass. Our language gets us by in most foreign countries though

ha ha.. its really true though, there aint much love for americans in europe.
