DVD Rom won't play

My laptop plays CDs and CD Roms fine, but when I put a DVD disc in, it loads for a bit, but nothing happens, and when I click 'run', it says there is no disc in the drive.

Also, some PC games that are PC DVD Rom won't play.

The Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1000, which runs on Windows XP.

Any ideas? Surely if it was just the laser, it wouldn't play any discs at all??

then that means you need a dvd drive

It says on the side that it is a 'CD/DVD Rom' so I only assumed it could play DVDs :confusion:

Yeh. All normal DVDs and PC games that are DVD roms.
