Creature of Habit
Crash landing into the pit
She’s waste deep in the mud
An innocent kid
Void, rejected from love
Momma’s in a maze,
Sitting head to her knees
Poppa said he aint ready
No ones seen him for weeks
She pulled herself from the ground
Peaked through the space in the fence
Surrounded by countless opaque flowers
A warm breath grabbed her neck
“this is no place to hide”
Said three beasts inching near
She shot ‘em a smile
They stuck their tongues in her ear
Invisibly rabid,
When you all share disease
A creature of habit
Blooming nature’s seed
Scars of attrition
Plague the hands and the feet
A primitive existence
A heart beating off key
A stranger paves his way
She’s creeping in the abyss
Stalking her pray,
Scratching his itch
One may walk on
Said her eyes with a snarl
Yesterdays innocence
Fuse the bars of tomorrow
