upi.com Wrote:DALLAS, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Animal rescuers in Texas said they are trying to find homes for 2,000 exotic animals, including fire-bellied toads and iguanas.
WildRescue Inc., an animal welfare partner of the Petco Foundation, said it is offering small animals including snakes, lizards, hermit crabs and fancy mice for adoption at 22 Petco stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Wednesday.
The animals were among the 27,000 seized in December from U.S. Global Exotics in Arlington, Texas, due to inhumane conditions described by investigators.
"We're so thankful to WildRescue Inc. They are going to be placing animals that we would have had a hard time placing," said Maura Davies, spokeswoman for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Texas.
