AIDS Pandemic in DC

I doubt many people know this, but Washington DC, the US capital, has the highest rates for HIV/AIDS infection in the country. About 3% of the population has HIV or AIDS. Those levels are classified as pandemic and can be compared to Uganda, West African nations, and parts of Kenya.

Its all over the news down here. I only live about 30 minutes from DC. I'm not sure how much ya'll care personally, but this is ridiculous. How can an American city have such a high rate of AIDS, a completely preventable disease?!

What do you guys think is the leading cause for the pandemic and some good ways to slow it down?

It's because politicians love to screw over everyone in the ass .






But seriously, doesn't DC have one of the most dangerous/ghetto areas in the U.S.? That's probably the reason AIDS is so high then. The only way to prevent it is through education and practicing safe sex.

No it's probably because Maryland and DC have the highest concentration of drug injectors in America.

I think that unprotected sex is the biggest way that its transmitted. The highest rate of infection is in the black community, which makes me think that its a case of poor sex choices rather than drugs.

Yeah unprotected sex is a big issue, but it's a big issue everywhere. Maybe not equally,but DC people aren't fucking enough to leave the rest of the country in the dust the way they do. However what they do have is far, far, FAR above the average amount of injection drug users. So add them together and you get a pandemic, sex alone isn't the reason.
