I'm gonna give a short, and sweet reply. Black History Month was made with good intention. Especially because not much of it is told in History books, during School curriculum. Adapted after Carter G. Woodson's "Negro History Week", which was made because of the lack of knowledge that Blacks had of their own heritage. Black History is so disregarded in School curriculum, and it is truly sad. Black History should have its place in "AMERICAN HISTORY", and that was Woodson's dream. What best sums up what my stance is, is actually from a controversial interview with actor Morgan Freeman.

"You're going to relegate my history to a month? I don't want a black history month. Black history is American history." -- Morgan Freeman.....

to be honest, i don't think that any race should have a specific month devoted to them, black, asain and all races should be taught in schools, not just in a month where people take notice. I'd rather have youth programmes for young people like they do in the uk, especially in connexions where kids can do courses if they're not in school. Of course, there can be one off black history lessons w/e but can be a afternoon of it ( a mont is too long and we don't anything of any signifance)
