Obama closing Guantanamo

That prison was one of the most racist concepts since the concentration camps in Nazi Germany. Anything to do with the patriot act's racism needs to be eradicated.

Not all of Patriot Act = Bad idea. I have no problem with them listening to phone calls to prevent terrorist attacks.

okay heres something to think about. Where do we put the people who are in Gitmo? do we just let them out. Move them to a different prison? Sure i do believe there are innocent people in there, but i also believe there are crazy fuckers in there too that wanna blow the shit outa us and would if they had 'another' chance to.

I think closing gitmo is a bad idea. I think Obama is going to learn the hard way that not everything can change. No matter what theres going to be people that hate America and the only way we can protect our people is keeping them locked up or killing them. Its a pretty extreme point of view, but something i would much rather have than letting a bunch of crazy suicidal people who hate America running around our streets.

I don't know enough about this issue to have a meaningful opinion lol. But I do know that Guantanamo has a bad image and seems to contradict the very concepts of justice and freedom in the United States. I mean I've read about all the torture and how innocent victims are accidentally placed there, and etc. but I don't know how good these sources are. Nevertheless, with so many countries having such a negative image of the United States, I think it's good Obama is closing it. It's not like he's setting all the prisoners free, I'm sure he's transferring them somewhere else. It is a great message that he's sending out to the world though and we can really use that right now.

He's moving them to other Navy Bases. Hopefully they will get a trial and be viewed as innocent until proven guilty. And if they are innocent, they better be released promptly. And you know what? If we don't release the innocent ones, the U.S. will be seen as a hypocritical nation who preaches freedom and justice, but turns the other eye to their own actions. Other nations will think the U.S. can't get off their high horses and has become a country that loves to boss other less powerful nations around. They will not only lose respect to the U.S., but begin to despise the country....and that's how real terrorists are created. Not because some random guy looks Middle Eastern or wears a turban or is Muslim.

The most of the prisoners in Guantanamo are not even terrorists ... In Guantanamo they didn't respect the human rights.

Bush's politic was was based on terror, making people scare, so that's was a good excuse to make Guantanamo, but it was a bad idea since the begining.

And I agree when people say it's difficult to close guantanamo, cuz' if you release them in USA, they will be killed and if they return in their own land, they will be killed too and in Europe, only Spain is ready to recieve some ex-prisoners, but other countries are not so sure, they still examinating the problem.
