You can't deny the fact that after consuming to much alcohol, a human being might do something stupid which he wouldn't have done if he was not under influence.
Yes, and physical addiction is something that is easily considered as almost being out of the hands of the person addicted. Granted, they chose to drink. The reasons they chose to abuse alcohol could be numerous, but the addiction itself is something that is more complex than a single simple decision.
That being said, I want to say again, as others here have, that prohibition isn't the answer.
