religion fucks up the world...we all would be better without religion

Perhaps, but wars will happen with or without religion. And it's the religious extremists that mess up everything (well extremists in general). There are millions of religious people that you know...celebrate peace and stuff. And you know, honestly, almost all religions boil down to loving and respecting one another, but certain extremists love to take certain passages from their holy works and twist it around to further their own selfish agendas. That's why I think of this is (now) a fight over land dominance/pure selfishness, while using religion as an excuse to kill. I mean yes, there is religious tension and I do know there is a heavy religious history in this conflict, but I've known Muslims and Jewish people and they are all nice, tolerant, cool people...unlike the extremists over there. Sadly, they also brainwash the people living there to hate on the other side too .

I agree in some points...like celebrate peace and stuff....but religion is just an excuse to go to war, but that's not the only excuse, there are 2 other...money and power...why else would war happen?

@Sticcy- Building off of Tash's point: and when we did go to war, we went to war...with Iraq? Why? Osama wasn't there. Bush simply used America's anger to find oil and "weapons of mass destruction". Now I'm not saying taking out Hussein was a bad thing, but we had no reason to attack Iraq and the reasons we supplied were complete b.s.. We still haven't found Osama yet, so yeah...epic fail. So the war on our (America's part) was started by greed/money.

that's somewhat true, but think of how angered the US people would have been if we didn't retaliate to the attack on us? I know I would have been pissed as fuck, I don't know who did it, but someone needed to pay.

i think we changed the subject, like we're discussing how religion is the cause of almost every war and whether or not the US should have gotten involved in a war after 9/11.

The problem with that is...well almost everything that has happened the last eight years. I'm not saying the U.S. should have sat there doing nothing, but at least go after the right guy/right countries (aka Afghanistan and the Taliban and Osama bin Laden). Instead somehow the attention got diverted to Iraq and most other countries were against us invading it. So in the end, when when we should have been stopping terrorists, the government made asses of themselves and made countries that supported us begin to think twice and the countries that hated us hate us even more. Plus the war has dragged on too long and has not been kind to our economy .
