I support Obama, but not because he is black, but because I agree with more of the Democrat's positions and his plans. But I want to point out a lot of flaws in your argument:

Black people are called minorities for a reason. Let's say what you're saying is right: that black people tend to vote for blacks and white people for whites. If that's the case, then McCain should have won. Yes race played a part in this election, but it wasn't because of race that Obama won.

Also, if you look at the popular vote results, McCain and Obama are fairly close: 46%- 52%. However, Obama received a near landslide in the electoral votes (he was only 1 from a landslide). These people are chosen by their political parties and view based on their political beliefs and not on race. In fact that's the reason the electoral college was created, to have responsible voters that aren't simply swayed like the public masses.

Now I have to admit that the electoral college isn't perfect (hence why Bush won in '00 even though Al Gore won the popular votes), but the electoral college is meant to prevent votes through racism.

Finally, I want to add the main reason I support Obama isn't because of his policies (though I do support them), but because he gives the country hope and unity. The GOP has been attacking the Democrats and I'm ashamed of the low tactics they have taken. The rest of the world supports Obama because they see him as level-headed and willing to listen and cooperate. Lastly, it is nice to see a black president. Finally, even though race had nothing to do with how I viewed his qualifications as President, it's awesome that the rest of the world can look at this country and see that we have elected a person we once would have enslaved only a couple of centuries ago. Not to mention, I'm sure Obama's multinational background will make him more accepting/open-minded at foreign affairs than Bush has been.

Edit: I mixed up the elections of '04 and '00. Al Gore was the one who had a greater popular vote count but lost due to electoral college votes.

How IRONIC that the Dems are all telling us to move on, get over it, and support him when Bush was attacked from the day he was elected and will be to the day he leaves office. He was undermined at every turn. He inherited all kinds of problems and they were blamed on him and was never given the benefit of the doubt from across the aisle. HE HAS NEVER been supported by the Democrats and didnt get any free passes from them. He has been shown more hostility and disrespect than any sitting president in our history. The Democrats are such funny little trolls. They are the party of unity, understanding, and freedom unless you have a viewpoint or opinion contrary to theirs and then you are a moron, racist, bigot, idiot, right wing nut job, etc. So I guess we are suppossed to forgive and forget and let the Dems and Obama run wild. umm 6 of those years with a democratic congress that got us into an Iraq war, ignored all warnings about the housing buble, effectively destroyed our economy

i'm sorry if I have already seen what the democrats can do. Let alone what a supermajority might do, it's just plain scary.

But for the hope of God and America I hope Obama will become a great president, we really do need to all stand behind him and make sure this country goes in the right direction..
