Sexism in the Workplace

Postby imarun10 » Jul 25th, '07, 10:14

Speaking as a women that works on a regular basis, I can say that I have never encountered sexism in the workplace personally. I've heard the polls and surveys just like everyone else, but strangly I've never been subject to it.

I was just wondering what everyone elses opinions were and whether or not they've seen it happen.

It is surely a problem in many workplaces. There were documentaries on the TV, but I usually switched the channel. I consider it as a everlasting problem, since people are too damn stupid to understand that everyone has right to work and be treated with respect. That's the same thing as racism and other prejudices.

To be honest, I'm sick of sexism, chauvinism, feminism, racism and other -ism things. We're one fuckin human race, we've been blessed with mind, soul, ability to express our emotions in different ways, but in fact, we're just bunch of retards who cannot coexist.

i think its more related to women over 30s in coperate work, men get treated better, but besides that, post 2000 its pretty even, also depends on the type of work. Locally women get treated better in the workplace here and thats been documented.

rofl see. It's hard to find. I don't really know why it people cause so many problems, maybe because of boredom. I say we should get rid of 80% Earth population. Less people = less problems. :shifty:

I've worked in a few different places and in only a few was there any trace of sexism

My 1st job working for a news paper distribution center I found that any complaints women had about the simplest things (even down to the fact that the soda machine was empty) would be ignored but a man with the same complaint could force some action to be taken. That was pretty blatant, but the manager also had a problem with minorities so he was overall intolerant of life in general.

My 2nd job was at the city zoo where me and another male seasonal were paid $.25 more than 2 girls that we knew. But at the same time there was another girl that was making the same as we were and she hadn't been workin as long, so I think that was more of a personal hit.

I worked at a restaurant and the only female worker was one of the employees who performed the best and was rewarded for doing so.

I also worked at an ice cream place and there was no sexism in sight

My current job is run mostly by women and employs mostly women and I've seen no sexism towards anyone. It's on of the most ridiculously fair jobs I've ever held.

So about 60% of my working experience has seen no form of sexism and one of the examples was only possible sexism since there was at least one girl making as much as me and the other guy, so that's only half valid which brings me to about 70% in my mind.

I know all the polls say that sexism is a huge epidemic and happens everywhere but my mom has never complained it. My grandmother, aunts, and female cousins all seem to be treated fairly where they work, but maybe I'm just lucky.
