Capital punishment, also called the death penalty, is the execution (putting to death) of a convicted criminal by the state as punishment for crimes known as capital crimes or capital offenses.

What do you guys think of Death Penalty?

I am completely against it!, even if someone deserves it.
It's better if they just torture the person who did they crime, to make him feel how the victims(or families of the victims) feel/felt.

not for all crimes, i'm talkin bout cases like a guy who murdered 10 random people. or there was that guy here in Poland some time ago, he murdered his father, ripped off his skin and said he did it, cause satan told him so. he's obviously mentally ill, so there's no point in keeping him alive in prison or mental hospital.
cases like pedophiles raping and killing children or people using violence against children - guy took his baby and threw it against the wall, because it was crying too loud. baby died and he said he didn't feel guilty. this ain't normal.

as i said, there are cases when death penalty isn't necessary, like self-defence cases. it all depends on the circumstances, but in general yes, i'm for it, but only when it's 100% sure.


The Green Mile movie is a great example. it didn't change my view, but made me think that now we've got much better ways of investigation and we can be 100% that the person is guilty of comitting the crime.
there's just one thing to be added: remember the 'Tookie' Williams case? he was convicted in 1981. they kept him for almost 25 years. by 2005 he was nominated to Nobel prize, had like a dozen of books written. and now they say he'll die. controversy, people figthing to free him and question if the death penalty is really necessary, because he'd changed for better. things like that, keeping then in death row for xxx years is pointless. because when the time comes, it causes so much controversy. either make it happen right after the sentence or just let him stay in prison for the rest of his life.

i know it's horrible, killing a man with cold blood. but maybe then people would think twice before moving forward.

You're actually right.
They could just torture him/she a bit before they sentence them to deathpenalty. Thats better, because when you die it's over fast, but torturing first will show them how the victim felt..
And yeah.. for pedo's they should have deathpenalties. Not if it's only about 2-3 kids, bvut when he has done that in a long time.

no, i don't believe in torturing them before death. on the other hand, they're still human beings and the thought of death getting closer with every minute is enough. and from the economic point of view [rofl that's sick but true] it'd cost too.

i saw that talk show with ex-convicts sentenced to death penalty, who got the amnesty. they said it was something crazy and unbeliveable to just sit there and wait for the death.

i got the same view as yoshter, people who brutuly murder someone for no reason and show no remorse should get the death setnence, even if they are mentally ill. i also beileive that with the amount of money that goes into the justice system surely there wouldnt be any death sentences carried out on innocent people, im not saying its not possible it could happen, but i doubt it would.

there was actually a murder up here not to long ago, a young guy i used to work with was watching the football, a bitter old man form next door came over and started arguing with the dad of this guys mate, the dad got stabbed and the young boy tries to go help him he gets stabbed and dies...he was only 13, that man should have got the death sentence, although in a wat he did, he suffered a heart attack in prison around 2 weeks ago and hes dead but justic wasnt done coz he hadnt gone to trial or get sentenced yet.

as for rapists and stuff, thats to harsh, coz depending on the circumstances, alot of girls flirt with guys and play evil tricks like that on them if the guy is weak and tried to get with them by force...ok its wrong and there sick bastards but they dont deserve to die...unless ofcourse the girl was a minor or somehting, the rape thing all depends on the circumstances imo

corrupted politicians lol nah. they're just greedy fuckers, some time in prison should teach them. i bet inmates don't like politicians.

as for the rape, it's kinda hard to tell in general. it's the same problem when it comes to abortion - girl says it was a rape, just because she doesn't want the baby. but there are ways to find out if it was an actual rape like signs of using violence against the woman and so on.
i'm not sure about death sentence for rapists, but why not amputation for example?..

im on tha fence w/this one, usually tha ppl who have killed so many ppl or w/e end up killin themselves cuz they know they gonna get caught n end up in prison for tha rest of their lives so whats tha point in livin? then again u there are some nasty ppl livin in this world that do crazy shit n deserve somethin like that.. but there are some situations where u honestly dont know whose gulity n whose not.. n so how bad would u feel if u just sentenced death penalty to someone who was completely innocent??.. ++ i dont think theyd have it since it cost wayyyy too much money w/tha death sentence than to keep em alive & in jail. but ya.. there are points for both

I'm with it... there's a lot of crimes that show us the people who did it ain't recoverable. We could avoid the waste o' money keepin all these shits in a prision when most of 'em won't be able to live in soceity again.

if 10 years in prison with TV, 3 meals per day and warm bed is an actual punishment for a homeless guy who killed a man for $50, i don't wanna know what the prize would be.

it's XXI century, we got much better ways to find out who commited the crime. plus we're discussing death penalty in general, it's kinda obvious i'm not for a common death sentence for every single crime. and it's not like the judges condemn people just like that. there are laws.

Just cuz the world isnt fair and never have been, why should we settel with that? I belive the world can change and thank God that others belive it to. otherwise the wordl would bee a even more hopeless place.

Yes there are laws, but they dont always work.there are a hell lot more poor people in jails then rich people, why do you think its like that?
