Why do people like/hate Kanye?

I've been wondering this for a long time, but to the Kanye fans here, why do you like him?
And if you're friends with any Kanye fans, why do THEY like him?

Personally, I hate the guy. Up until tonight, I haven't listened to a single track other than his Daft Punk remix song because I used to be a huge techno fan (I have some of his songs in the background on youtube, I still can't say I'm impressed). I think he's way too arrogant and egotistical. I googled "Kanye West Sucks" and got a few articles about how whiney he gets when he doesn't get nominated for an award or if he doesn't win it. Someone with such a big head just screams "douche" to me.

The more I think about it, the more confused I get about why people actually like the guy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on his music, I couldn't care less about how shitty he really sings without an electronic voice machine to back him up. I just hate how he proclaimed himself as the voice of this generation. Like...really? He really has the audacity to say something like that? To ASSUME that everyone in this generation is like him and will throw a fit back stage for not winning an award? I just shiver at the thought of this guy having such a Napoleon complex.

Do some of his fans actually find that appealing? Do his female fans mistake cockiness with confidence? I don't even know why he would have male fans.

Hey! Kanye is not such a bad dude compared to other rappers. I personally liked his College Dropout album (i hated "Graduation" though) which was great and his productions for rappers like Jay-z,common and others r also good.His current tracks suck though but I think d dude deserves some credit. I got a message for him though," Shhhh! DON'T SAY NOTHIN" stick to rappin and just shut up then all will be good.

I used to think Kanye was the shit until he opened his mouth to do things other than rap. He's a decent rapper. He makes songs you can dance to, songs that are poetic-ish, songs that uplift you, and that's great. The College Dropout was a great CD, Late Registration was above average, and I really really liked Graduation. 808's and Heartbreak sucks though. I get that it's new, daring, different, and goes against the grain, but that doesn't excuse the fact that he's become more simplistic than a sleeping 50 Cent, and fucking sucks at sing so he continues to ruin autotune.

But past that I don't like Kanye as a person. He's actually an idiot. And the reason he's SUCH an idiot is because he doesn't even think he's an idiot. He considers himself an informed, intelligent, ballsy guy. The type who "says what everyone's thinking but is too scared to say" even though only completely ignorant people are thinking those things. His ego is so ridiculous it causes me physical distress. Throwing temper tantrums when he doesn't win awards. Throwing tantrums when he DOES win awards. And if he's not acting like a douche bag when he wins then he ruins it by not leaving the stage because he wants to talk. If I was a musician I'd leave any show that had the audacity to sit me next to him. The fact that he thinks it's alright to disrespect people that win awards over him just shows that his mother obviously didn't know how to raise a child, and if it's not her fault then it shows that there IS a God and he created Kanye specifically to be an example for children of what to NEVER, EVER be.

Used to be a fan. Then his ego got bigger than Bizarre's stomach, so he started demanding awards, calling out our government and had no idea what he was talking about, started using autotune (to the point where it was in every song, and he thinks it's the greatest thing ever), started supporting Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy, started saying he was the greatest rapper of our generation.

Yes, that skit was funny. Very funny. Probably hilarious. But you know what makes it so hilarious? Because it's true. Not because it's mocking himself. But because he's probably being himself. On one side, it's funny to see him be such a huge baby. But on the other, it's sad and frustrating to see that he thinks he actually deserves anything and everything possible.

He "raps" over songs his producers have already created. They do the hook, and come up with practically the whole song. All Lil Wayne does is get in the booth and mumble for a couple minutes for a paycheck.

People hate Kanye because he's a huge douchebag. That's a fact, the man is an outstanding douchebag. What he does is like the epitome of what a douche would do.

But whatever, I have no problem with that, but I hate it when those same people go on to say "Oh, it's all about the music." Bullshit! 'Cause if it was all about the music, then they wouldn't hate Kanye. It bugs the fuck out of me when people say "Kanye's the worst rapper ever!" Did they not hear his first album? Or even just his singles, like Through the Wire or Jesus Walks, 'cause even though those got mad commercial radio play, they were still hot. People can be so ignorant when it comes to shit like that. As far as his new album, that just gives more fuel for his haters because ya know... The autotune thing is just overkill at this point. But at least he acknowledges the change and he's aware of what he's doing. I don't hate him for singing, I just don't like it and don't support it.

People act like all they care about the music, but the truth is, the majority of them don't. It's a mixture of things that gets fans to like or dislike an artist. It's not just the quality of their music. Why do you think Game lost so many fans? 'Cause he acts like such a bitch with his beefs and stupid tattoos. Why does 50 and Weezy still have fans? Because they're damn entertaining, even if they're music isn't exactly the best.
