Does every invention create a new problem?

Postby Jiskefet » Nov 22nd, '09, 16:49

I was thinking about this lately due to some recent treads here in serious debate concering inventions and besides that im kinda bored right now.

Anyway when an invention is made, how ingenious it may be, doesnt it always create a new problem? Has there or will there ever be a invention for mankind that will bring nothing but good? I mean look at the environmental influence by modern technology to start with. You cant say things such as electricity, combustion engines, computers, and so on bring us nothing but good in the end. Whats your opinions on it?

well u can find a flaw in everything on the planet...
but stuff like wind mills that generate natural electricity from the wind, pretty beneicial with no obvious flows

thought u could make some BS thing saying theyre so big they could fall and break your house

so imo no, not everything has a downside

Yeah you may have a good one there... and you are right about the BS arguments you can think off, but think about it, what if there were a lot of windmills to generate a lot of natural engergy, in fact, enough to supply a whole coutry (wich is almost impossible but okay). Then, suddenly the average wind stops or weakens for a month (wich isnt impossible to happen). You have another problem. In other words for that case you need another solution to fall back on.

No.

actually my friend, South Dakota has enough windmills to power the country with electricity as of right now :y: its not hard at all. its just the electric companies wouldnt make any money if that happened  and we could just build more at different location, so if the wind stopped there, we turn on the others, put one in Windy City(Chicago)

and there is always sorrow before tommorow  made it up hahah

Okay thnx, didnt know that, well you have a good point there actually.

About the electric companies, I know here in Holland electricity by windmills is only affordable due to the government subsidizing(hope its the good word) these projects. Otherwise it would be three times more expensive than regular electricity with the current state of technology. In a small, heavyly crowded country like mine it would be almost impossible to power the entire country with windmill parks. Thats why im sceptical about it. But i get your point, in a country with enough room and the scale advantages its a more efficient concept. :y:
And lol about your last statement, very true.

i think this sums it up best

But not every invention was a problem before, yet can create one.

It's a never ending circle, problems create inventions, but, if there weren't any inventions in the first place, those problems might not have been created. It's actually quite simple to describe it, the same as the chicken and the egg question. What came first, the chicken? Or the egg?

But imagine, the chickens evolve in different bloodlines, will there be a perfect chicken in the end at one bloodline that doesnt evolve anymore or do they always keep changing?........

Danm I dont think I make sense to myself anymore :D

Nah seriously, thats a good comparison I think :y:
