Why?

Ignorance is why there is still religion in this world.
Ignorance is wanting to believe and/or do something regardless of what logic points towards; simply because you personally want it done that way. And you completely shut out any possible factors that may attempt to change your mind.
You contradict yourself there.

How so?

But at its heart, it's a lack of education.
And I'm not talking government-headed education, I mean true... Processing and understanding of information. Ignorance is lack of knowledge.
I also agree with Nollie about religion being around because of ignorance. It's not being ignorant to say that at all. Religion was born out of a lack of knowledge. So it quite literally, is ignorance at its worst.
Ignorance is the stain they can’t wipe off.

That it's now seen as short sighted, naive and stupid to have hope in little feelings, little miricles, and the comfort in believing there's more than what you can jot down on a notebad or type in to a computer..

Oh no no absolutely not. As we've grown with Science, our ignorance has reduced and our open-mindedness has increased.
Religion is the OPPOSITE of open-mindedness. Open-mindedness means being open to the facts and considering all possible outcomes.
Religion says:
"WE HAVE THE ANSWERS, GOD IS REAL BECAUSE WE SAY SO, WE DON'T NEED TO PROVE IT AND ANYONE WHO CHALLENGES IT IS BEING INSENSITIVE AND CLOSED-MINDED"
Religion is the enemy of progression.
RealSickLindley wrote:Religion and Science are as stubborn and aggressive, i'll admit that.
While Religion can get really defensive, the whole point of Science is to have your own theories and opinions, and make sure they get believed over everyone elses.. A bit like.. Oh yeah.. Religion..
Why have all the big discoveries had massive opposition? Cos people didn't want to admit they were wrong, they didn't want someone else to make the big breakthrough..
Not so open minded.. But as PINK said.. let's get back on subject..
