Just a quick little topic I thought I would make because I am interested in what some of you think...

See I work as a cashier at a Grocery Store, and nearly half of the people pay with some form of goverment help (Food stamps, welfare, WIC ect...) But honestly some of these people will leave and put there stuff in a brand new Camry on 22's you feel me?

I think it is a broken system and IMO needs reform like immeditly because of the growing deficit. I think it should be cut heavily....

But I also understand with a growing unemployment number there will just be a higher number of people on it....

but AFTER we get the job thing worked out we really need to work on cutting this shit by a large number

Agreed. The last thing we want is to turn into a welfare state were people rely on the government more than hard work. Welfare should be a safety net, not something to take the place of a job because your lazy.

Obama keeps extending all the unemployment benefits. Maybe I'm just being ignorant but if you can't find a job after 2 years your just not trying. I know people that aren't even going to start looking for a job until their unemployment benefits run out. That's what needs to stop.

I always thought America didnt have as much benefits. I always thought you'd have to help yourself. Although in britain, the people who claim benefit ARE usually proper broke but i feel if youre getting taxpayer momney and you unemployed, you should atleast be trying to find a job. Maybe it'd be better when a unemployed perosn sigend on for benefits, they could do some community service, after all, they are paying for the unemployed person's rent, favor for a favour.I mean, they got all the time in the world now they're umemployed, make use of it

Well, the benefits system in Britain is a total mess and as much as I hate David Cameron, the one good thing that'll probably come from his reign is a shake up of that system. As you said 99% of people actaully do need it but theres that 1% that dont but are still on it.

Plus it's too rewarding and doesnt encourage people to work. Why work at minimum wage when you can not work and get a similar amount of money on benefits?

Mininum wage needs to fucking go up. I know it's not the best time for it with the economic downturn not over, but it's absolutely terrible. Thats for a diferent topic though
