Of course it was going to be outlawed, what idiot would want to play a sport where your objective is to tackle another player. And don't bother saying soccer is the same, in reality, soccer's objective is to capture the ball, and defend your goalpost.

I guess NFL players could have some skill, but all they really depend on is endurance. Soccer players are the same, but like Menzo said, they require mental thinking.

Oh wow, a playbook. A lineman isn't going to look at a running backs play. They focus on their own path. Whereas in soccer, a player has to determine HIMSELF how he's going to get the ball in the goal.

Lol. Okay, I'll give it to NFL for being more physically demanding, but mentally? Not a chance.

:facepalm LOL that's EXACTLY what they do. learn before you try to throw yourself into an argument you clearly know nothing about. Not only are Football players stronger, quicker, and faster than soccer players, someone like Peyton Manning would shit on their chests in something like the SAT or an IQ tests. Football is a SMART game. AND, may I add, much more entertaining...

these videos almost made me cry lol. Just look at it.. The best national team ever. I miss it .. :'(

By the way, football requires way more skills. Keeping the ball with your feet is harder than with your hands lmao..

I agree that american football requires skills, but my problem with it is how specialised the skills are. You've got one guy whose main job is to give excellent throws, a couple of guys who just catch and run, a guy for just kicking the ball, and the fact the defensive and the offensive team are completely different. Lastly the game seems more like routine than a sport to me. Of course this are my attacks on the "pro sport", it's a whole different thing when played recreationally.

As for watching the game, I hate the fact commercials are such an integral part of the game itself. Taking time-outs every 5min, just so TVs can show their ads. Look at the whole culture revolving around the Super Bowl and unveiling of new commercials, so pathetic and sad!

^ Word to all of that.

Hesky wrote:Football is not fluent, just because the clock is always running. People complaining to the referee whilst some ponce rolls around on the floor isn't very fluent. People hugging and celebrating for a few minutes whilst TV shows a replay of the goal 3/4 times isn't very fluent.

Despite all those situations you ignorantly described, (real) football is fluent, for every 90-minute game there's 50-60 minutes of net time of play. I don't see what's laughable about not having a goal line technology? I'm for the use of technology, but don't think is really neccesary given that is a rare situation and you would only use it once every 10 or so games.

Hesky wrote:I don't think association football players have to learn a 700+ page playbook like the one above. Imagine someone like Wayne Rooney, or even worse someone who can't even speak English trying to learn that

Football has strategies and tactics too, you know?. The average intelligent footballer would learn that, I don't know about rooney though. And once you learnt the playbook and absorbed each play, you'll only need to stick to it and there's no much room for desicion makin while you're in the actual game.

It's because they want the best, doing the best. Everyone is a key cog, unlike in association football. Cogs can be missing (via a player being sent off) but the team must continue without him.

As for what you said about commercials/advertising, at least they don't plaster their kits/uniforms with shameless promotion, as well as around the edge of the pitch/field ;). The Premier League has Barclays in their title, and the Carling Cup, is well. The Carling Cup. All advertisement.

When a player is down injured in American Football, they go to adverts. When a player goes down in association football (95% of the time faking injury) they show it about 6/7 times in slow motion. So pathetic and sad!

I know they want to be the best. I simply don't like that level of specialization; it just takes much of the spirit of sports in my opinion. It even leaves little room for improvising, one of the most exciting things about soccer.

You have got to be kidding, right? Logos on the kits and around the pitch are NOTHING compared to 3min commercials that repeat so many times that I'm forced to memorize them. That logo isn't going to stop me from enjoying the game, but an ad is anticlimactic and a distraction after a good play.

"95% of the time", no one has seen what really happened, so close-up replays are actually welcomed (unlike ads). While the fake injuries are pathetic, sad, and poor sportsmanship, their replays aren't. You're attacking the wrong aspect of soccer...
