Its so fucked up because obviously he was in line for a promotion because he is out performing his collegues. So why the fuck should they care what he does in his personal life if he is excelling at work?

yeah man i agree,
i mean its one thing if im balls out stoned at work and screwing up. But i have never been cited for not doing my job or doing things poorly. Texas laws just fucking blow in general. Thank god i passed my test, its a load off its just something that they abuse of.
I know when we drug test newcomers it cost the company about 100 bucks per test, and sometimes we dont always hire the ones we test so its wasted money.
