Maybe both, do some shows, release some mixtapes on the internet and some exclusive for the streets.

Umm, I don't really know. I think some how you would have to present yourself to some sort of figure dealing with any type of music label/industry. Maybe get yourself on the radio, and promote some mixtapes in an area where Hip-Hop is big. Or just go to concerts and festivals and do performances and/or hand out mixtapes. Maybe...

like Killa said, it depends on the amount of exposure to Hip Hop your area has had. But I think a mix of Internet and 'real life' would be the best bet. The more ways you can get your name out, the better.

yeh gettin heard in your area is definatley a good start cos ppl are more loyal and more likely to listen to an unknown mc if theyre from the same area otherwise your less likely to get the time of day and send your demo out to local djs that actually have regular sets in your area and try and get the chance to perform a track or two to start with when theyre playin, which will build up your name in the area and bring mixtapes with you too

Sell crack and waste all ur money on useless jewlery and rims, then make a 1000 shitty mixtapes titled "greatest rapper alive 1, 2, 3 , 5 and etc.. consecutively".
