Do people who rely on analogies for the crux of their argument piss you off?

Do you agree that analogies should never be used to make an argument, and that they are purely illustrative and should only be used to get a listener to understand your thought processes, not as a parallel to how the mechanics/details of what you're arguing works?

Nastradamus vs Encore?

Nas Deja Vu or Eminem Deja Vu

Weakest album by an established Hip Hop artist?

Even if you don't like Ghostface will you at least admit Shakey Dog is one of rap's best storytelling songs?

Ever listen to Mf Doom?

If so Relapse or Madvillain?

Who has better flow Black Thought or Eminem?

Who has better multies Eminem in Relapse or Black Thought in How I got over?

Black Thought or Tech N9ne who has the better/more versatile flow?

Black Thought on Illadelph Halflife or Jay z or Reasonable Doubt, better performance in their respective albums?

GOAT producer?

Madlib or dre?

Quantity of multies or quality of multies?

How do you determine what makes good multies?

Hardcore rap or Alternative?

Lowkey or Diabolic in multies?

Do you think you're cool?

What members do you think you can best in a debate?

Thoughts on Slim Fiasco?

Tech N9ne vs Gift of Gab?

Who knows what the future holds Mr Thomas? Will Eminem be great again? Will Newcastle in a cup? Will I use a smiley other than :facepalm ? I can never rule anything out.

Innovation wrote:(if you watch those vids) What do you think of English Frank?

Voice pisses me off and his lyrics annoy me. I honestly couldn't take him seriously.

diction wrote:Do people who rely on analogies for the crux of their argument piss you off?

Slightly. They're usually used to be condescending to the other persons argument so that pisses me off.

Do you agree that analogies should never be used to make an argument, and that they are purely illustrative and should only be used to get a listener to understand your thought processes, not as a parallel to how the mechanics/details of what you're arguing works?

Yes, I agree. They should be used as an add-on to an argument. Make your point, explain it, then use an analogy to back it up.

Nastradamus vs Encore?

Nastradamus

Nas Deja Vu or Eminem Deja Vu
Eminem's Deja Vu. Just prefer the overall sound and the dark humour is executed scarily well. Nas' is great, some lovely imagery and the production is perfectly stripped down to suit Nas' flow, but it's nothing Nas hasn't done before, imo.

Weakest album by an established Hip Hop artist?

Encore, easily

Even if you don't like Ghostface will you at least admit Shakey Dog is one of rap's best storytelling songs?

The imagery is stunningly vivid and it's great storytelling, no doubt. But I dunno, it's not something I'll listen to a lot because Ghostface's style just pisses me off, has no appeal to me. That is one of the few songs of his I do like though.

Ever listen to Mf Doom?

Nah, I heard a bit from that album Masta Ace is using beats for, for the MA Doom album but nothing apart from that.

If so Relapse or Madvillain?

Can't answer

Who has better flow Black Thought or Eminem?

BT's is more consistent but Eminem did things with his flow in his prime that was unreal - his practically became the beat and used pauses perfectly.

Who has better multies Eminem in Relapse or Black Thought in How I got over?

Black Thought probably. Eminem had 'more' but quality > quantity. Eminem's were forced a lot of the time on Relapse and BT's were crafted beautifully.

Black Thought or Tech N9ne who has the better/more versatile flow?

Tech N9ne's precise, melodic flow annoys me. Black Thought it is.

Black Thought on Illadelph Halflife or Jay z or Reasonable Doubt, better performance in their respective albums?

Haven't listened to IH in ages. I think I'll say Jay-Z, Black Thought has been better on other albums (HIGO, Phrenology and Game Theory)

GOAT producer?

RZA or Premo

Madlib or dre?

Dre

Quantity of multies or quality of multies?

Quality, by a country mile

How do you determine what makes good multies?

Their effect on other aspects of lyricism. If they're effecting other aspects (word choice most notably) in a noticeable way then they're not well-crafted multies. Also how they add to/effect the flow and how creative they are.

Hardcore rap or Alternative?

Alternative

Lowkey or Diabolic in multies?

Lowkey

Do you think you're cool?

Depends on your definition of 'cool'. I'd say a little bit if you're going on the recognised definition.

What members do you think you can best in a debate?

Lots.

Thoughts on Slim Fiasco?

Reminds me of a more dominant ThomasJ - great member, definitely underrated

Tech N9ne vs Gift of Gab?

I'll say Gift of Gab from the few songs I've heard, Tech N9ne pisses me off

What specifically do you love so much about Deja Vu? The quality of the writing? Execution? I assume you love it all, but specifically, what stands out the most to you?

Do you rule out the chances of Eminem releasing an album which will make us go "wow"? Lyrically solid, fantastic flow etc. I mean he still has the quality in him.. Deja Vu, GTC, My Mom etc

Lloyd Banks - yay or nay?

Do you like tennis? If so - who do you support/follow?

Liverpool buying Henderson for 20m and Manchester Utd buying Phil Jones for 17m - do you agree that English players are overpriced?

Did you ever think your ask me a question thread would get this many responses?

The amazing storytelling, smooth flow, haunting chorus, the well crafted multies, the perfect Dre beat and the great dark humour. The honesty stands out most - "Oh yeah there's an excuse you lose Proof so you use".

Do you rule out the chances of Eminem releasing an album which will make us go "wow"? Lyrically solid, fantastic flow etc. I mean he still has the quality in him.. Deja Vu, GTC, My Mom etc

I don't rule anything out but can't see it happening. He doesn't have that consistent creative spark anymore unfortunately. He could come with something great but not a whole album on DV level

Do you like tennis? If so - who do you support/follow?

Federer is just a god. Plays tennis the way it should be. I'd like to see Murray win a major.

Liverpool buying Henderson for 20m and Manchester Utd buying Phil Jones for 17m - do you agree that English players are overpriced?

Carroll for 35m, Young for 15m (possibly) as well. Yep, it's insane. Newcastle's policy is scouting for young foreign players which is the best option imo.

Tiote cost 4.5m. Says it all. If he was English he's have been priced at at least 20m.

Did you ever think your ask me a question thread would get this many responses?

Lol probably not. Diction has pretty much kept it alive.

What do you think's better a rapper who has a VERY consistant discography, but no amazing songs, or a rapper who has great songs, but fluctuates in discography. (i.e. Eminem/Black Thought)

Do you think content should be judged separately when evaluating a rapper's skill?

Thoughts on this Nas track

Thoughts on Busdriver?

Do you think One time 4 your mind is underrated?

Meaning do deeper verses with thematic writing get points when comparing verses?

Do you think Eminem is a GREAT writer, or do you feel that he sacrifices his substance to pull off his dynamic flow?

If Eminem was black do you think he'd have the same content or do you think him being white, forced him to be more creative to set him apart from other generic wiggers?

Thoughts on Nas' multies/internals/schemes?

Do you believe that the rhyme scheme/multies lead Tech N9ne rather than the other way around and it has an effect on his writing, or do you believe he has intricate multies?

Elzhi or Royce da 5'9?

Thoughts on society's self-aggrandizing of mediocrity?

Do you believe most things society deems as antithetical to selfishness really aren't?

Would you rather be happy or smart?

Don't you know the debris was falling at superfree-fall, thefore 9/11 is one big conspiracy?

Do you think that generally fans of grime have little knowledge on the technicalities of writing? i.e multies.

Will you be buying Hell: The Sequel?

What do you think of Royce? Do you think currently, he's a better rapper than Eminem?

Petr Cech - I personally thought he was the best goalkeeper in the world at one point, I still think he's a strong candidate for that title. Thoughts?

I was gutted when Murray knocked out Roddick in the Queens. Huge Roddick fan - my favourite tennis player and has been for many years. I'd much prefer him to win Wimbledon (especially after that Federer final) over Murray. Do you think that's lack of patriotism or just love for the sport?

One week until Wimbledon, are you going to be watching it from the start?

diction wrote:What do you think's better a rapper who has a VERY consistant discography, but no amazing songs, or a rapper who has great songs, but fluctuates in discography. (i.e. Eminem/Black Thought)

The latter. I have a lot of respect for artists who are consistent but to make classic tracks, even for a small period, has much more replay value, even if it's just those tracks.

Do you think content should be judged separately when evaluating a rapper's skill?

No, it's harder to rap about real life, for example, and still keep up your skills, than it is to write about nothing and keep up skills.

Thoughts on this Nas track

Not my favourite Nas era by any means but an enjoyable song. He doesn't sound that hungry but the rhyming and flow is good enough to give it replay value

Thoughts on Busdriver?

Hate his delivery and flow. His rhyming isn't that good and don't really have much care for what he's saying.

Do you think One time 4 your mind is underrated?

It's better than It Ain't Hard To Tell, so isn't the worst on Illmatic, so, yeah, I guess it is.

Meaning do deeper verses with thematic writing get points when comparing verses?

Well, yeah, without doubt. Adds so much to a song, imo.

Do you think Eminem is a GREAT writer, or do you feel that he sacrifices his substance to pull off his dynamic flow?

You could argue he does at times, but he switches up his style/content so much, that I'm not really fussed. I mean he could do both (flow, substance) quite easily, Sing For The Moment is the best example.

If Eminem was black do you think he'd have the same content or do you think him being white, forced him to be more creative to set him apart from other generic wiggers?

This is an interesting question, almost impossible to answer, but I think it was mainly his life and most notably the response to Infinite that made him be more creative. The fact he wouldn't get signed because he was white is also a factor, I guess. But his content early on has so much unresolved frustration and anger (JDGAF is the best example) at his life that I think it was just natural.

Thoughts on Nas' multies/internals/schemes?

He's underrated in this field. Has quite unique rhyme placement and his schemes are usually fairly well crafted. God's Son is really creative in that area.

Do you believe that the rhyme scheme/multies lead Tech N9ne rather than the other way around and it has an effect on his writing, or do you believe he has intricate multies?

His multies are okay, but as class said, he just has loads of them rather really great ones. When I listen to a Tech verse I don't really have an interest in what he's saying so I'm not really sure how to answer this. I'll said that they lead him because of the amount.

Elzhi or Royce da 5'9?

Right now, Elzhi. Royce, overall.

Thoughts on society's self-aggrandizing of mediocrity?

I guess it bothers me a bit. It starts at school, where it's just an exam machine that sucks out a lot of creativity. School hasn't really shaped any of my creativity at all so I guess it's an aim to keep people mediocre. Knowledge is power.

Do you believe most things society deems as antithetical to selfishness really aren't?

Probably not. Most things that people see as "doing good" is just a cycle of pointless shit.

Would you rather be happy or smart?

It's a hard one. People can live in a bubble there whole lives, not knowing anything around them and die happy. I could know A LOT and it would piss me off (it does at the moment) and sometimes I wish I wasn't as clever so I just get on. The world is shit so knowing more about the world makes you sadder. But I still probably go for smart. At least than I can look down on people HAHAHA

Don't you know the debris was falling at superfree-fall, thefore 9/11 is one big conspiracy?

I don't want to hear scientific nonsense - someone would have whistle blown by now, it's too big of an operation not to have leaked. And the idea tha govt worked with Al-Queda is laughable.

Innovation wrote:Do you think that generally fans of grime have little knowledge on the technicalities of writing? i.e multies.

From my own experiences, yes. But I can't speak for most.

Will you be buying Hell: The Sequel?

I want to for my Eminem collection but can't really afford to right now.

What do you think of Royce? Do you think currently, he's a better rapper than Eminem?

Great in his prime, mediocre now. Right now, he probably just is, although I'm not that interested in either atm.

Petr Cech - I personally thought he was the best goalkeeper in the world at one point, I still think he's a strong candidate for that title. Thoughts?

He's up there, but I think he's a tad overrated. Top 10, no doubt.

Patriotism is a load of shit, so no, that's just a love for the sport. I just like to see good tennis to be honest and Federer usually provides that. That's why I like him. I did want Roddick to win that final 2 years back.

One week until Wimbledon, are you going to be watching it from the start?

Well, I'll be watching mostly from the 24th onwards (in between getting smashed) after my last exam.

RKOunion wrote:Why do you think Sadistik's Searching For Something Beautiful is his best song? What do you love about it?

Unqiue strucuture, nice flow and just 'sounds' best. His rhyming is creative and the switch up of flow makes it much more interesting to listen to.

Best Royce song?

Throwback or Hip-Hop

As far as England go on an International level, what's stopping them reaching the likes of Spain for instance? The over-hype of potential young stars thrown into the spotlight qucikly? the youth system? Or the general thinking that England should be winning stuff when there are clearly better teams there?

Also, why don't you Ghostwrite for someone?

The over-hype of potential young stars thrown into the spotlight qucikly? the youth system? Or the general thinking that England should be winning stuff when there are clearly better teams there?

It all starts at grass roots level. The fact is we are wayyyy too competitive at an early age. At like under 9's you have managers and parents screaming at you. It's all about winning, not about HOW you win. The other aspect is, we start using full size pitches at u10/u11s. That encouraged kick and rush football. Spain don't play full size pitches until u15s (I think). Encourages better football and shows how to keep the ball, which is what is needed at internation level

Players are thrown in to quickly - the price and pressure of young English players is absolutely insane from such a stupidly young age. We don't use our under19s/under 21s system enough. Rooney didn't play one game for u21s. Wilshere and Carroll weren't allowed to play in the u21s Euros. The thing about u21 football is it allows players to get used to international football and most notably, living away from home for 4 weeks during a tournament - getting used to international tournament atmosphere. Our players never really have that. 15 of Spains WC winning team had played youth tournaments.

There's other reasons but those are the two main ones for me.

Also, why don't you Ghostwrite for someone?

Ever read/heard a classthe_king verse? Yeah, that's my writing.

Do you agree with:
1- Embase that long posts make for a better discussion?

Depends on the context. They add to some MEGA breakdowns so, in this sense, yes.

George Carlin is hilariously and he makes a lot of sense here. I still love golf and do not find golf boring. I can't really make any arguments against him haha but I still enjoy golf. I disagree with his points about golf not talking skill though. It's unbelieavebly skilled

Why not?

I agreed with both to an extent.

Innovation wrote:Do you think Dear Listener is a classic?

Nah, it's great but you can tell Lowkey hasn't quite found his voice on the album. There's a few boring songs as well (Revolution doesn't really fit). Relatives is a classic song though.

Thoughts on Kool G Rap?

Great storyteller, decent rhymer and a huge influence to a lot of 'gangster' storytellers. Never found any of his albums amazingly enjoyable though.

Thoughts on Vinnie Paz?

Can't get past his delivery and flow tbh. It doesn't really make me want to hear what he's saying - he's definitely an above-average rhymer though.

FreeDoom wrote:Newcastle get to jack one Chelsea player. Who and why?

Sturridge. Young, talented, scores goals and we need a striker. So, so, so much potential there. I dont think he's got a bit of an attitude/ego but that's easily worked on.

I feel Daniel Sturridge will be a better player than the some what over hyped Hernandez, Agree? If so/not then why?

I fully, fully agree. Hernandez is just flavour of the month at the moment. He's a great player but hugely overrated - Sturridge has better all round play.

I also feel Josh Mceachran has the ability to be the best new England midfielder and will be better than Wilshire. Am i just looking through Blue tinted glasses? Or do you not know enough to comment?

I don't know enough to comment. In the game against Newcastle he played in, he looked decent, but hard to tell on one game really. He seems to impose himself well on the pitch though.
