^Everyone read that. Its their response.

I've now watched the video and while i have MANY reservations and am not pledging blind support, i will say that there is some benefit in the campaign. Lets make KONY FAMOUS!!

This. I don't kids dying either, but it's gonna happen. You arrest him, those kids'll flip shit. Leave him, and the number grows even more. What real option is there? You think those kids are in their right mind after killing their parents and mutilating others? He's probably got the whole "Father Figure" thing going on in that camp. Brainwashing by fear's a sad thing.

I can't believe people are having this reaction to this video. Nobody is scamming anyone. Nobody here is a scammer. The Invisible Children might not be the best charity for you to donate your money to, but as humans with free will, you can CHOOSE to give your money to whatever organisation you want, or none at all.

Kony is a man who kidnaps, rapes, tortures, etc children. He is the leader of the LRA, an extremist Christian group that resides mostly in Sudan, not Uganda. He has comitted war crimes against up to 30,000 children and is considered a terrorist and is currently #1 on the Internation Most Wanted list.

He is no way "in power" of any of these countries. Taking him out will merely bring a man to justice who deserves to be brought to justice more than any other man in the world currently (according to the most wanted list).

The GOOD thing about this video is exposure. Now, you're an ignorant fool if you were unaware of the atrocities taking place in Africa. You're also an ignorant fool if you think Kony is any more than a drop in the ocean. That being said, it is bringing the situation into light, and of the 40,000,00 views it has recieved, if even 1,000,000 of those people are intelligent enough to research the situation and support a charity that they deem to be the best charity, that is a lot of money generated for great organisations.

I don't believe Invisible Children are out to scam anyone. They want this man brought to justice and are going about it in the best way they know how. If you don't want to support them, then don't. However, you SHOULD educate yourself on the situation, especially before making some of the ridiculous comments I have seen in this thread.

I can find the source if anyone doubts me, but Invisible Children rake in 13 million last year. & they only gave away 3-4 million of that for their cause. Spending the rest on advertising

I'm all for Kony being bought down & I appreciate the word getting out there. But Invisible Children do not deserve any money at all

If anyone knew anything about global politics they'd see this is just a smoke screen to get us into Africa. Why? China and oil, plain and simple. While the U.S. has been busy in the Middle East for over the past decade China has been forging new friends and contracts all over Africa. Gee, I wonder what America, the self-serving Superpower would do to counter that. They can't just say we'll go in there to counter Chinese influence, people would NEVER go for that, but they would go for "Oh, think of the children!" Sure, it's sickening, but it's the way the world has been for a LONG time and will continue to be that way. It annoys me how people can be so ignorant and believe anything they came across, I urge everyone to do some serious research and not just believe these propaganda videos every time they pop up.

But hey, that's just me.

You've definitely got a strong point.

How can you say that? Lets take the situation in Africa and think of solving it like running a business. McDonalds has a great business model, so we'll use that.

Now you have your cashiers and your burger flippers, who are doing the hard work and without them everything else would be for nothing. Now, believe it or not, there are ENOUGH of these charities. More charities does not equate to more dollars. You only need enough aid workers in to utilize the money donated. In other words, there is no point having 10 people taking orders at the McDonalds register if there are only 4 orders coming in. There is no point having a million people build one church.

Then you have the advertising campaign. Do you really think there is a person alive today (in the first world) that doesn't know what McDonalds is? Of course not. Then why so many God damn advertisements? To keep it on our mind, so we don't buy KFC or Taco Bell.

Invisible Children are the PR department, they are in the media, spinning the situation or emphasizing facts without necessarily providing the entire story ("Big Macs now have 25% less saturated fat" -- brcause they are 15% smaller and have increased sodium). The point is, they are keeping the situation on our minds. Instead of giving to cancer research, I'll sponsor a child. Or, instead of the kidney foundation, I'll donate to UNICEF.

McDonalds has spent BILLIONS on advertising and never reached the level of exposure this viral video had. You can choose not to support Invisible Children financially, and that's ok. But don't jump on the hate wagon because you've read ONE article and a few equally ignorant opinions on a message board. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. DO NOT LET PEOPLE TELL YOU HOW TO THINK. If you have looked into the situation and disagree with me, or you disagree with invisible children then I commend that, because of how you reached that decision. But please, always keep an open mind.

I disagree with the statement that they don't deserve money at all. If someone agrees that EXPOSURE is the most important tool in this fight then they are exactly the organisation to donate to. Personally, I agree that they aren't necessarily the best organisation to donate to. Having said that, this video will directly and indirectly help the situation. I just hope people look past Kony to the deeper issues.

After exhaustive research and debate here are a few FACTS-

Kony is bad. I have Ugandan friends i know personally who have told me that and there is no mistaking all other official information received.

Invisible Children is not a scam. Yes, they did spend only 30 % on "their actual work" and more on advertising but they are so transparent their accounts are publicly available. They are audited. You can disagree on prioritization but do not accuse of integrity.

Bottom line- share the video as it serves its purpose of awareness but a more intellectual and concrete plan will need to be put in place to achieve the end goal- with or without American support.

Conspiracy theories are corny. #justsayin

^^
Fact, even Ugandan officials are coming out saying that this video is 15 years too late. Nobody's doubting that he's a bad person, but the people who made this video made it very misleading (according to TONS of credible places that I'm just too lazy to find all the links for right now). Kony hasn't been seen in Uganda in 6 years, why are they bringing this up right now? Oh yeah, like it's been said before; OIL. Come on people, don't be so naive! Conspiracy theories my ass, do your global politics homework and you'd see the truth in this. It's a good message to stop the bad guy from doing bad things, but that's not the real reason this is gaining so much attention....

I personally will not share these videos with anyone because they serve an ulterior motive that most people are too blind to see to put it nicely.
