I don't really enjoy Christmas.

Someday I'd like to think I will enjoy it and other holidays when/if I have kids but I feel like I'm burning bridges now, so I'll probably end up fucking my kids over when they see how little involved the external family is cuz of me.

I hate my extended family so much, it kills me having to fake like I like them at Christmas dinner. The rest of my close family tends to be very ungrateful regardless of what you buy them, and it feels like I'm wasting money on bullshit they use twice and then forget about. I hate it.

I just wasn't involved in my extended family nearly as much as all my other cousins were, not to mention a huge language barrier has completely disconnected so many fucks.

It sucks because a good relationship with your family is something a lot of people could use, but it's not my fault. If parents want their kids involved, they should put the effort into making it a norm growing up instead acting shocked when you don't give a fuck when you're older.

My family is just filled with some of the worst backstabbing fake people ever. I've tried to make the decision to not have them involved in my life, but it's hard when my mom still wants me to come to family gatherings when Im home during the holidays.

They're genuinely mean people, and I have to bite my tongue the whole time that I'm around any of them.

I feel bad for my one younger cousin, he hates them more than I do, but my grandparents offered to pay for his whole schooling (they never offered for me, nice to know there is favorites in the family), so he's forced into having them in his life all the time.

I'm really close to him, and he bitches about them more than I do.

Putting up with shitty family members might be worth not being over 100 grand in debt tho haha. Make sure he sticks it out

It's definitely worth it, and I would have done the same thing if I had been given the option. I remind him frequently how good of a opportunity that is.

Although, it's cheaper in Canada. I only pay 4K a year for tuition, so it's more like 16K when all is said and done.

I'm paying about 10K a year, but I also rent a 1 bedroom apartment. I earn about 3K during the summer that I put towards it, so 7K a year on loans at the end of it all. Still not bad.

You always want what you don't have. People in hot, sunny places get tired of it and then want snow. People in cold, miserable weather would love to be in a place with a ton of sunshine and heat. I personally would like a balance... I've always liked San Francisco's weather tbh.
