freestyle battling is just way more pure. it's real.

when you're doing full written battles it just becomes too try hard and corny

i can watch old scribble jam battles or the wrcs for days

no way. freestyling has absolutely no where near the amount of replay value. as the lines just aren't as good.

I agree that nowadays battlers take themselves too seriously and it's fucking shit and try-hard lol. Cruger's a beast though. one of the few rappers who can make wordplay not come off as stupid as fuck imo. plus his set-ups aren't just obvious multi fillers too. they're gr8 and relevant (in fact necessary) for the punchlines.

freestyles are great to showcase at parties and what not, where everyone can jump in. (its always awkward if some fool drops a lame ass written)

but the best written battles are literally just better - when comparing the lyrics. i think average written battles (most of them) are worse than freestyle battles. but the best writtens are easily more replayable
