"Apparently You Ain't Parents"

Postby Slim Fiasco » Apr 24th, '12, 17:51

Yesterday, I watched yet another interview with a "professional" idiot who claimed that Video Games influence kids to be violent. Motherfucker, I've been an avid gamer my whole life and I've never been in a fight, nor have I damaged my social life. If you can distinguish between right or wrong, which is basically common sense, or at least something your parents should teach you, then nothing will be able to influence you in a bad way.

This leads me to the whole thing about censure, which of course is a stupid notion. Everybody knows curse words, and everybody uses them, but you should be aware of which register is to be used in which occasion, and avoiding bad language isn't the answer. I'm telling you even now, that my kid will play video games, watch action movies, listen to me cursing all the time, listen to rap, all that at a very early age; and he will turn out just fine.

I agree. Kids should have the common sense to NOT run over hookers and shoot at policemen just because they're allowed to do it on GTA 4.

Lol. I totally turned out perfect, except for a few psychological issues. I'm gonna raise my kids in an abusive home filled with lots of alcohol, drugs and violence so that they can be immune to it by the time they head into college. Seriously, the sheltered children were the ones getting raped and sent to detox after discovering alcohol for the first time. Let your kids take a sip so they can see how gross it is, and let them try a puff of a cigarette so that they can cough for like 10 minutes straight and never touch one again. It seriously works. I promise. Let them try to imitate "Smackdown" and get sent to the hospital. You gotta let them learn the hard way.

My point was that this topic is pointless. He basically just stated the obvious that has been said ever since the Jack Thompson shit in 2005.

There are still people who use that bad excuse for some/a lot of the bs that is going on, so it apparently isn't obvious to everybody. Plus, it was just a little rant for I was pissed by that interview. If that's pointless, then so be it.

oh you are so wrong, so wrong.

If you kill a hooker and someone sees you, you get one star.
If you shoot with a handgun in front of policeman, you get two stars.
If you shoot a cop, you get three stars.

So, Dont do this in real life. You will end up in jail and lose all your weapons.

Completely agree, if you burn your kids in the neck with cigarettes they won't want them done the road.

my son has played this game with his cousin when he was 6 and I didnt know it until he asked me why people can go to jail, when I said one reason was so they killed someone, he said he didn't think we could go to jail for that because in GTA people don't go to jail when they kill someone.
but yeah he was only 6 . :sweating:
