Tosh's rape joke

so Daniel Tosh opened for headliner Dane Cook, (which musta been a fucking amazing show)
Tosh asked the audience what he should talk about and rape was yelled out. Tosh continued with said subject and made a joke about rape. a female audience member then yelled something arguing to the point where she said it was not a funny joke. Tosh then retorted, "wouldnt it be funny if she was raped but like 5 guys, right now."

she then posted it on her tumblr and it got out. people are flipping out. and others including comedians are defending it. Louie CK and Dane Cook being the most recognizable.

was he wrong to say that?


my thought? of course fucking NOT. its a comedy club, shit like thats brought up all the time. rape/racism/killing all that brought up like anything else. if you are easily offended dont go to a fucking adult comic show. and certainly dont make yourself the center of attention just asking to be made fun of, especially by a comedian who can think on his feet and pushes the limits.

Nah. He didn't even bring it up. And if anybody's seen him before, they'd know his brand of humor. But I found it funny he opened for Cook. I like him sometimes, but Tosh is so much funnier. Dane Cook just has a gigantic fucking fanbase.

I think Tosh, as a comedian is utter shit, his show is alright but that's solely a result of the clips - his jokes about the clips are shit though.

I hate to say it menzo cause you're awesome but that show is hilarious, and his comedy is up there with the best. Even if you hate it, i don't think anyone can disagree that the way he uses stereotypes and says it like it is in that respect for everyone, every background, every race, every stereotype in general is ballsy and he plays it off great. He says what he wants to say, what he thinks is true, and therefore funny in most cases (to me, but i guess not you), to me makes him legit.

I think its fine, obviously people can be offended by anything, and obviously if someone had been raped in the audience it would be extremely offensive to them. But if comedians, or any artist in any situation didn't do anything based solely on it may be offensive to someone, we would have no art.
