I'm booking my hotel in Amsterdam in the next couple of days, can you guys recommend a few places that you know are very good (5 stars but also great views/architecture/service etc.)?
And from what I have read coffee shops definitely sell weed to tourists in Amsterdam, yeah?

Also a place in Paris if there are any French people on this forum...

For weed go too http://www.thebulldog.com/ It was the first coffeeshop in Amsterdam. And there is a Sexmuseum in Amsterdam if ur interested aha, i dont know if you are interested in history but u can visit the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam 2.

So weed is definitely legal for tourists in Amsterdam? From what I have read my understanding is that it is fine in Amsterdam but not in southern provinces. I just want to confirm that.

hahaha, the first recommendation was a place to go for weed!!!

I've heard bad things about hotels in Paris, so maybe you should check one of those sites where people post their opinions before booking. I use booking.com. You can read some opinions and see some pics before. Still you can get a bad surprise.

For Paris I will be there almost a week and won't be spending as much on the hotel as in Amsterdam... I'll be in Amsterdam for my birthday so I'm splurging

I never was in Paris myself, but some of my friends were there. They told me that the hotels were terrible, they were talking about the quality of the buildings, beds etc...

The problem of Paris is that there are lots of tourism, so the good downtowin hotels are very expensive. I was about to go to Paris once and they recommended me these hotels, maybe you can take a look:
