Simple as that.

If 31 = 3/3 then

2/3 + 1/3 = 3/3 = 31

yea the sum of that number (x+x) plus half of that number (.5x) equals 31

hence getting .5x+2x=31 *nods*

if you do it your way you get a never ending decimal number *nods again*
