Shit.. Speeding Ticket =[

Dear TR,

I'm 16. I've had my license 3 months. I neverr speed. The other night I was taking my girlfriend home, and as I'm going down this empty road I see the flashing blue and red lights behind me. Fuck. I was speeding. I pull over and the officer tells me I was going 57 in a 35 mph zone.
Damn.
The officer writes my ticket and gives me my court date (In Ohio, Juveniles must appear in court for traffic violations). I ask him basically what will happen and he tells me usually just a fine. I'm mad enough at that. I was going to get my car in 5 weeks and the best summer of my life was to come. After this fine, I'll have to put off my car.
I get home and look everything up. Some friends tell me I'll lose my license for 30 days. Holy shit. I ask around and most people tell me they've been caught speeding and actually didn't get anything but a fine. These 30 days have me scared. I look it up and find that the law is actually any moving traffic violation in the first 6 months of getting you're license results in having to drive with an adult again for 6 months or until you turn 17.

I'm going pretty much insane right now. Friday is farrr away when it comes to finding out this.

If I lose my license my summer is ruined. I'm going to have a horrible time trying to get a ride to work. And when I don't work it's going to be REALLY difficult finding a way to see my girlfriend when she lives so far away.

tl;dr I got my first speeding ticket. What are the chances of getting my license revoked or whatever? And how likely is it I'll get the full 6 months rather than 30-90 days. I'd be completely fine with that. 30 days would be a godsend.

Also, what are some tips for going to court? And to get the minimum possible.

Do they take grades, the fact I've never otherwise been in any trouble with the law and stuff like that into consideration?

You fucked up, but it all really depends on the judge. If you get a hard ass judge, then your gonna lose your license for a while. But if you get one that eats gum drops and lives on bubble gum lane, then you will just get a fine, or maybe just a warning.

Next time I think you should drive extra slow when your getting a head from your girl. Take it slow

You should also go to court with your jeans hanging off your ass, headphones on and a stop snitching shirt on. If the judge says some things you don't like, then you should make throat cutting motions with your hand. Make sure you are chewing gum, or better yet, go to court high.

When you get a little bit older and wiser you will laugh at how you think losing your car will ruin your summer.

just go to court neatly dressed and basically kiss everybodys ass there.
try to make it sound like it was an acciedent,,,or just tell them you have learned from this mistake...

Most of my friends say nothing will happen, and it hasn't to them. I'd like to think that but I know what can potentially happen. Especially at 20 mph over the speed limit. Although it's under 30 so it's not reckless driving. It would be only a 2 point violation, but unfortunately because I am 16 it only takes one for them to be able to revoke my license.

Oh yeah I'm going to kiss serious ass, and look nice as hell. I'm expecting to lose my liscense. I just pray to god for <90 days.. =[

dunno about Ohio, but in Washington state, 20 over the speed limit gets you a fine no questions asked.

i dunno about ohio, but here, i was with my friend and he got a ticket for going 90 mph on a 65 mph zone, and here, you can't drive anyone under 18 for a year, so he could a ticket for having me in the car as well.

After talking to everyone at school I'm not quite as worried. Everyone who has experience in this tells me theres no way I'll lose my license. And if I do it will only be 30-60. Which I don't mind AT ALL. So I hope to god they are right.

I'm still stressed and worried, but I think I have a chance. Hope enough I'm not going to get an ulcer waiting, anyway. =]

Guess I'll find out Friday.
