I don't see the point in discussing either of these artists. Or any of the "Killers Of HipHop". They're making money, why be a hater? We could go on for days about this. The image of "HipHop" today is what big budget record execs made it. It's what the MAJORITY of people want to hear. (majority being 12 year old girls in the suburbs for the most part). The average hiphop listener doesn't want lyrical or metaphorical heads such as Nas, Talib, Canibus, ect. They want something easy with alot of flow and swagg. The record execs see this and exploit every peeny they can get out of it. It's not the artist's fault this happens, they're doing their job. Soulja boy made a 'Song', if you can call it that, not even expecting to get rich.. But the populus dove into it head first making him a star. These artists aren't the ones that killed hiphop. Sure, they don't contribute to reviving the golden era, but it's the record execs that killed hiphop. The greedy motherfuckers in the offices that we don't see. Those guys make MORE than any artist ever will.

the execs arent to blame, yes they sign what will sell, but they also signed eminem, nas, jay-z and these guys are real artists, they just sign whatever has hype, they dont care about the music the guys doin just the hype it has, so if an artist is getting hype with dope or shit music it doesnt matter to the exec. witch leads me to beileive that there is more hype aroudn the shitty artists music. if artists didnt do the dumbed down shitty music, then the execs would have to sign the dope guys and these public would appreciate them, the way the appreciate the dope guys signed. if all artists stepped there game up, it wouldnt stop sales or make less money, the public would still like and buy it, they like what they get told to like.

Also, to couple selling out in hiphop with the slave trade and exploitation of civil rights is a drastic exaggeration that's not even fathomable by comparison. There's nothing illegal about making a "dumbed down" song. Nobodies life or rights are at stake. Even to use them together metaphoricly is wrong. Yes, I LOVE Hiphop and what it stands for. But it's also an industry and people need to survive. I honestly don't believe you when you say you wouldn't sell out. Who woudln't want a better life for their family? Who wouldn't want to buy their kids / brothers / mothers everything they could dream of? Self righteousness can only go to a certain extent before it becomes idiocy.
