Changing My Mind On Recovery

Postby slimshadylappin » Feb 7th, '11, 03:07

I change my mind a lot when it comes to music but with Recovery it has been ridiculusly drastic.

Since Recovery came out I have made 5 top 10 songs on Recovery lists. My first being the first time I heard the album and the last I made today. These are the lists.

The first list made on June the 14th was made after my very first listen. I didn't look at lyrics, I just wrote down the ones the sounded the best.

1. Space Bound
2. 25 To Life
3. Love The Way You Lie
4. Not Afraid
5. Talkin 2 Myself
6. No Love
7. Cinderella Man
8. Seduction
9. Almost Famous
10. Going Through Changes

The second list I made about 2 weeks after the first one. This is the first time I took a serious look into the songs.

1. 25 To Life
2. Not Afraid
3. Your Never Over
4. Talkin 2 Myself
5. Love The Way You Lie
6. Space Bound
7. Going Through Changes
8. Cinderella Man
9. Cold Wind Blows
10. Almost Famous

The third list I made in August after having looked at all the reviews that pointed some things out to me.

1. Going Through Changes
2. Your Never Over
3. Not Afraid
4. 25 To Life
5. Cinderella Man
6. No Love
7. Almost Famous
8. Talkin 2 Myself
9. Untitled
10. Space Bound

The Fourth List I made in December after realizing I have really changed my opinoun

1. Going Through Changes
2. 25 To Life
3. Not Afraid
4. Talkin 2 Myself
5. On Fire
6. Almost Famous
7. No Love
8. Cinderella Man
9. W.T.P
10. Space Bound

The fifth list I made about an hour ago

1. Going Through Changes
2. 25 To Life
3. On Fire
4. Talkin 2 Myself
5. Almost Famous
6. Not Afraid
7. No Love
8. Space Bound
9. Your Never Over
10. Cold Wind Blows

What songs did u like immediatly and then didn't or the other way around.

Same only now it is in my top 5 favourite Em songs and is the second most played Eminem song on my ipod

This.

But, since my 1st listen I knew Cinderella Man was my favorite and it still is :flutter:, On Fire did a complete 360 for me, at first I loved it then it got a bit boring for me then after a few listens I fell back in love with it.

25 To Life was a song I didn't fall in love with right away too. Now, it's in my Top 10 from Recovery.

I really liked Cold Wind Blows off the bat.
Talking 2 Myself was meh, then it was "oh, this is good", now it's meh again.
I hated On Fire, now I like it.
I thought Won't Back Down is decent and still think that.
I will always hate WTP.
I thought Going Through Changes was meh, now it's one of the best songs on the CD for me.
I will always hate Not Afraid.
Seduction was decent, now it's one of the best songs on the CD for me.
I liked No Love right off the bat minus Wayne's voice, and I still like it.
Space Bound was okay, then I went through a phase and loved it for a while, now it's decent but I wouldn't listen to it.
I liked Cinderella Man, now I love it.
I liked 25 To Life and still like it.
So Bad felt really filler until I started listening to it more and more and now it's one of my favorite songs on the CD
I instantly loved Almost Famous
I liked Love The Way You Lie until I heard it too much, now it's just boring when I listen to it. It's a good song though.
I felt..underwhelmed in You're Never Over. I have no idea why. I also have always hated the chorus but I understand why it's there. I think it's an okay song now but I don't listen to it often.
I liked Untitled and still like it.
Ridaz felt filler, now it just feels like an "okay" song.
I've always loved Session One. (The flow he uses to open that song is omfg)

Really solid CD. Italicized are my top 6.

I liked 25 To Life right away, as well as On Fire, Seduction, So Bad, and Untitled. The others took a few more listens, but now I like pretty much every song. I also hated Space Bound (mainly for that chorus...) at first, but now I love it

I pretty much like every song on Recovery. The only song I don't like and always skip is WTP. I just can't get into that song.

Some of my favorites are Talkin' 2 Myself, So bad, Space Bound, and 25 to life. It depends though, always changes.

1. "Cold Wind Blows" At first I liked it, but didn't love it. I feel the same way about it now.
2. "Talkin' 2 Myself" Never listen to it. Hate everything about it. The lack of multies, the flow, etc.
3. "On Fire" It was the song that stood out to me most. Now, I fucking LOVE it. The rhymes are insane, and Slim Shady makes an appearance.
4. "Won't Back Down" Ok track, but I always skip it.
5. "W.T.P." Fun track to listen to. I think if he used a "The Real Slim Shady" calm voice in this, it would've been great.
6. "Going Through Changes" Great song. I love it.
7. "Not Afraid" I liked it for ONE day. The day it came out. Now, I hate it.
8. "Seduction" I used to love it, now it's decent.
9. "No Love" I HATED it the first few months. I thought Em was just saying random shit. Then I noticed the rhymes.
10. "Space Bound" Loved it at first, now it's whatever.
11. "Cinderella Man" Hated it at first, not it's one of my favorites. 2nd verse :worship:
12. "25 to Life" It was ok at first, then I loved it, then it became boring...Recently it's becoming good again.
13. "So Bad" Hated it...still do.
14. "Almost Famous" It's been an ok song for me.
15. "Love the Way You Lie" I never really hated it, then I loved it for a while, now the hook is annoying.
16. "You're Never Over" Hated it, now it's pretty good.
17. "Untitled" Loved it, now it's whatever.

A romantic interlude in a livin’ room,
In an inner tube with a dude with a bit of lube
Fuck that I’m sniffin’ glue, sippin' gin & juice,
And a little bit of paint thinner with my dinner too,
You better pay me for my bars like your rent is due,
Now hurry up and finish dude before I finish you."

Ever since Recovery dropped, my opinions remained the same for pretty much every track. Except for maybe Not Afraid; wasn't a fan at first but now I love it

You gotta be the biggest bitch here, just unbelievable...

OnT: The songs I loved right away and still love are: 25 To Life, Space Bound, Love The Way You Lie (yeah), Seduction and Not Afraid. That's about it, of course I love more than those NOW, but it took a few listens to get into the rest. :sweating:

Cold Wind Blows (12): Started out thinking it was OK still do but its SLOWLY growing on me. Sounds like a very early Recovery song to me because it's flow is kind of Relapseish to me.

Talkin' 2 Myself (6): Have always liked it one of my favorites on the album.

On Fire (11): Hated it at first thought it was boring but it's really growing on me. Love how he makes fun of David Cook because my brother is obsessed with him.

Won't Back Down (16) : Always has seemed like a filler. It's OK.

W.T.P. (17): Another filler. Worst song on the album IMO.

Going Through Changes (10): It was good at first then it was bad now I love it. One of my favs.

Not Afraid (1): LOVE THIS SONG. It helped me through getting through rough times. One of my favorite Eminem songs of all time.

Seduction (13): HATED it at first, but its grown on me. It's a good song, IMO a better version of Superman.

No Love (5): At first I thought it was OK, but Em's verse just is awesome. It says I'm back better than anything else.

Space Bound (3): This song is what really got me into Eminem. A friend had Recovery and I was going somewhere with her and her and her friend were like were in love with this song and they put it on. And I was like DAMN I have to check Eminem out more. Now I own all his albums and I'm obsessed. He's always been my favorite rapper but this song put me over the edge. It at one point had gotten boring but I love it again.

Cinderella Man (2): Love this song as well. Pumps me up every time. One of his best ever.

25 to Life(4): Another Eminem classic. So much emotion and listening to this is like riding a rollar coaster. It's a ride.

So Bad (14): Has always seemed like a filler but it's starting to grow on me a little bit.

Almost Famous (9): Loved it at first, I thought it was the shit, but it got boring after awhile. Loving it again though.

Love the Way You Lie (8): Loved it at first, and still do but it has been overplayed. I actually like the chorus, but they're not as good as the verses. So much emotion.

You're Never Over (7): Love this song a lot. Very inspiring. This has never gotten old.

Untitled (15): Meh. Never has grown on me. Felt like a filler.

To me it seems like Eminem is like one step away from being back to TES. This album is a classic, 3rd best Eminem album ever (behind TES and MMLP which are tied for his best).

The numbers in parenthesis are my rankings of songs.
