My take on the smoke lyrics:

Eminem came into the studio in a "Yellow Jumpsuit", therefor the "Whole room, cracked jokes" but once Eminem "got inside the booth" Dre was like "I told you" to everyone, this guy is "like smoke"

Just my opinion based on what it sounds like and what makes sense.

I think Dre wrote it for 2 reasons:

1. Its a Personal verse, which brings me to point 2

2. Its terrible.


Its entirely possible Dre took charge of his verse and actually wrote his own words for a change, which is maybe why it was written/delivered poorly.

interesting, seems plausible but i'd like to see this confirmed at some point.

i find it weird, like ghostwriting to me is the cardinal sin of rap, yet if it's one of the best/most popular rappers who does the ghostwriting, and its for the man who is so well known for his beats, oddly enough it is accepted and actually sorta makes sense

i'll still never understand why tho, especially that its so well known and not kept under wraps

A) That doesn't make sense with context of the song, and especially the phrase. "See, I told you. Now smoke weed" And "light a smoke" refers to a cigarette generally, not weed.

"I told you, he's like smoke" Which is a phrase that means "he's hot" as in hot in the booth.

B) Listen, it's only two syllables "like smoke" not "light a smoke"

It's definitely not "light a smoke", as that would barely make sense within the context. It's either "like smoke" or "white smoke". I think it's "like smoke" but not sure.

And about the "clearly" or "literally". Well to my ears it sounds more like "clearly", but "literally" would probably make more sense within the context. So I duno.
