Probably everyone knows about this, but in case no one does Curtis Hanson (the director) hosted a real rap-battle competition with all the extras in the shelter scene's. The winner got to battle Eminem in a sequence that would be used as part of a montage. Em started losing his voice so they told him to just fake it, but after the first dude tore him up a little and Em not being able to respond he flipped the mic on and went to town. It's in the special features and sweet as hell.

yeah it was real. If you listen to the Rap Olympics (the video is in the downloads section) Em says he never battled a chick before and uses the "take your period out on me" line
