What I do love though is how he enunciates every syllable on this. He doesn't sound like he's slurring like he did on a few other tracks like "Take From Me". Love how hard he stresses the B's and P's in this song.

its weird the more i listen the more i like it. first listen i was like meh throwaway, nothing special. by 5-6 listens i was like holy shit this is actually fuckin sick. his rhymes are nuts.

It definitely depends on how it does on the charts after they officially release it as a single. That's what Interscope is all about & Em doesn't care about the business decisions so he lets 'em deal with all that. I am sure you two remember how Interscope turned into a circus when Crack a bottle dropped. It was recorded for Relapse but after the initial backlash in the media Em was about to drop it... then it went to #1 & Interscope went nuts & were trying to give it to Dre or 50 & even confirmed it for 50's album before Em finally agreed to have it on his album. It ridiculously turned into something like a first/first single 'cuz after that there was We made you which supposed to be the second/first single. lol It went even more ridiculous when they added Forever which is a non Em song for the re-release. So basically nothing will stop Interscope to put it on the album if it hit #1 even if the album goes in totally different direction than this song.

On another note Emady & Menzo converstaions... That brought me back in like '10 or something.

That's very true, but at least "Crack A Bottle" kind of...conceptually slotted into Relapse's story, cuz right after "Beautiful" it comes in and it's like the light at the end of the tunnel moment. Honestly, if "Survival" could smoothly work its way into the album, then so be it, but I hope it doesn't for two reasons:

1) It's not an Em/Dre beat. I know, as far-fetched as it sounds, we now have to cross our fingers to hear Em on a Dre beat or his own.

2) If this album is intended to be dark, I can't see how it fits...unless it's similar to good kid, m.a.a.d city where it has those warped, zoned out-of-character fantasy moments with songs like "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" and "Money Trees". I think EmBase was making up a concept of it being about him coming up in his younger days and I could definitely see how "Survival" would fit if it was utilized similarly to Kendrick's method - especially given the first verse and it's opening few bars.

Great points actually... esp. if they thought about other good reasons to put a song on a album rather than only looking at it from the business point of view.
I do expect darker album too but I won't be surprised if they just put the song on the album even if it totally sounded/looked outta place... I mean after/if it did very well on the charts.

Like I said it all depends on how it does on the charts... but it might be different if there's a new single coming next month & if it's something totally different than this one right here & esp. if it does better on the charts. .
