We got 4 out of 15 songs. ALL singles that is going to represent the sound of the album. 3 of them are poppy with lame lyrics. And don't say these lyrics are good because he've already made like 5 songs with this subject matter that are waaaaaaay better. So this song is just a poppy re-hash of Don't Approach Me combined with My Life with Rihanna on the hook. Rap god is amazing, but the beat sucks. So 4 beats of 4 sucks and are clubby/poppy. This is not looking good and that the rest of the album sounds like Rap God is a veeeery low precent chance. This can be one of Eminems worst albums. Not even the genius of Rap God can save it if we have one more song that sounds like Monster which I think we'll sertainly get.

and let it go until your brains are rippin out

Berzerk pop beat? yeeah right... :facepalm

Maybe not pop but it has some of the most boring lyrics. And that is not very helpful.

This is the worst song he's ever made. By aligning himself with the mainstream so obviously and blatantly for commercial reasons in such a poor, lazy, rehashed cliched way he guarantees he will never be in anyone's top 5. Compare this shit to nas, biggie or pac ? It's over. He blew it. One shallow pop song too many to be taken seriously in the hip hop arena.

And he has the talent to be regarded as the best ever, no doubt. Shame.

yeah i really hope this song can suffice to serve its purpose - hitting #1 on billboard, getting a shitload of radio play - otherwise, it would be a lose-lose situation lol (too much a poppy record, most of us are disappointed, Em compromised his own style) personally i'm not even sold, and this is coming from someone who actually does enjoy a lot of the songs they play on the radio. i honestly cannot even get past the first seconds of it cuz it reminds me so much of something nicki minaj would do.
somebody leak the entire album please.

That's why I'm OK with that song, eventhough it disgustes me
I've only listened to it once and that's all for today

Fair enough...

He's become a caricature of his own self. I've always suspected this since he came back but this confirms it. On Relapse, he tries to capture what people perceived him during the early 2000s as the old eminem, the "shock rap, controversial" rapper who rhymed and rhymed. And, he fed into the bullshit next with the cries of how the public wants the old eminem back, the "emotional, personal, deep" rapper who made people cry with Mockingbird. He doesn't seem to remember what he once was but the gimmicky figure people took him for. Looking at interviews from 1999, you see how brilliant he was and he had his own philosophy. That's how he made innovative music. Now, we have a pseudo-homophobic, pseudo-mysoginistic, back-to-the-old-me rapper who focuses too much on rhymes that he can't rap properly. And, what's the worst part? He lets people exploit him with all these COD, G-shock advertisements. He doesn't even have enough power over these label executives to exclude Survival off the album. And, that's where this song comes in. "Yo Em, you got something for the ladies?' Damn, I can't wait until he starts addressing the 'ladies' right before performing the song.

I listened to it a couple of times, and I like it more with every listen. This song is radio friendly. The hook of Rihanna is catchy. That's why they are releasing it. It will help with the sales with the general public. Not everybody will like Rap God.

And I like the fact that he tells something in the song.
In the land of the killers, a sinner's mind is a sanctum.

honestly, i feel bad saying this, but the hook is better than the lyrics imo

Exactly... I hate to say that they definitely had to release a mass appeal song right before the album 'cuz Rap God was solely made for us the core Em fans but they need a lot more than that sales wise. I mean like it or not it'll most likely do well on the charts & that's what an album needs nowadays.
Like I said a few times now I'd be more than satisfied if MMLP2 have like 10 songs like Rap God.
Thinking of it... the style is what bothers us the most 'cuz the song isn't bad overall.

Of course it is... this is business. Plus it's about having multi platinum singles as well. An artist as big as Eminem needs songs like LTWYL up there with the best selling singles in the digital era & even though The Monster most likely won't sell that much or even won't get close to that, it's still necessary to have it on the album. At the end of the day they rap for a way of living not just for the sakes of rapping.
Rap God is a masterpiece but it can't do what they want sales wise... even though it served its purpose in great manner.
