Well, I wouldn't read too much into that. Encore was the follow-up to The Eminem Show, so it's kinda obvious he's trying to pick it up from there.

The Way I Am: "I'm not gonna be able to top on 'My Name is' ".

I wasn't reading much at all into it - just that it implies it was on his mind and it's evident from a lot of the Encore material. It's almost like he gave up on topping TES so fucked around.

In recent interview he stated that he knew at the time that he felt like he hit a roof with TES. So, seemed like he didn't try to top it but rather, made some good tracks then fucked around.

What interview was that?

Eminem should be able to rap about brand new things in this album. I think, we're all in for a big surprise when his next album drops. I HOPE, I'm right :sweating:

Hes style always changes i dont think his next album will be or sound any thing like recovery.

Compare sslp to mmlp
Compare mmlp to tes
compare tes to encore
compare encore to relapse
compare relapse to recovery

He never has same voice or style on any album he always changes to much in a year or two.

Nah not really. Only similar in sound / theme because they are a 'pair'. Encore is the encore to The Eminem Show, so it's supposed to bare resemblance. It ties it up.

But, style-wise, where on The Eminem Show did he rap like "Evil Deeds" or "Yellow Brick Road". Or "My 1st Single" or "Crazy In Love". The Eminem Show had rock-tinged and slow or hard / shouty flows. Where as Encore had laid back flows, the closet to TES was "Mosh".

But for the most part his voice was laid back, smoother and he did more tricky flows. Or, not tricky but faster certainly. More direct storytelling.

I think the part that took "Recovery" down a level for me anyways, was all the random samples...mainly the dude (idk who it was, if it was kobe everytime or what) on songs like "talkin 2 myself", "cindrella man", "going through changes", etc. The female ones aren't as bad and are great if it's a handful like he has almost always done.

but the dude on it was way too much. You aint Kanye...and believe me you dont wanna be Kanye, Em. Your waaaaaay better then that.

Get a Shady Records track on your next album with Yela and Slaughterhouse, get D12 on a song, get Dre and maybe one outside the family guest (Jay-Z, Tech n9ne, Kid Cudi would be great IMO). Do the rest yourself with some female vocals here and there.

and try to lay off the "shoving _____ up ____ ass" lines.

This is why I don't have a problem with Recovery's production...that's not what I care about

Lmao, I know, TES is my favorite album ever, so...trust me, I know...I still accept Recovery for what it is, though

Yeah okay one track then. But the majority of Encore does not sound like The Eminem Show so you're being silly by focusing on that one dud comparison. I even realized that hence it no longer being in the post you quoted.

Point is, Encore does not (for the most part) sound like The Eminem Show. The beats are more hip-hop, the flows are smoother and softer. And his attitude is different.

Encore =/= The Eminem Show, even sonically. TES far surpasses Encore, in every single way

TES is and will ever be his best album, its a masterpiece. Recovery, at least for me, comes second, I love the album, its concepts and pretty much everything on it but TES has that Eminem essence that makes and album just perfect :y: And you can ask for another TES cause things change, he changed, but we sure can ask for another masterpiece that im sure he can give us.
