I'm saying we don't know if he would do a good job, and I'm doubting he could. The only big film we actually saw him was on 8 mile. His acting skills besides the rap scene were meh at best.

How were they meh? I understand he's playing himself and the script was likely written to suit him and his strengths but it's still not that easy, it's still fucking acting and the dude did a good job beyond just the rapping bits.

being filmed partly makes this all realistic, however if he does any sort of touring i doubt he'd want that hectic of a schedule. also Nolan likes big names, but Ems only had a significant part in one movie. i dont think Nolan would gamble on him as a main character. Em can play himself well like 8 mile, but any sort of getting into character may be weird.
Depp could do it as i saw someone say above.
