I fear Rap God will be the best track on the album, I fear the album will have too much of this rapping at an incredible rate with pauses here and there flow, and I fear the album won't sound cohesive.

Definitely at risk of this.. Berzerk was like replicating an old school vibe with a new twist, Rap God was a damn near techno beat with just crazy raps, and Survival was like a cut straight from Recovery.. I never really considered that could make the album sound all over the place...

Well shit, here's to hoping...

I'm pretty much 150% sure that at the very least 2 of the bonus records will be fucking dope, and should have been placed on the main album. Why he didn't just take off Survival is BEYOND ME.

That song really scares me about where he's going with the album.. If ANY song is like Survival he should of called it Recovery 2 and called it good... :facepalm

you can join if you want.. I actually hope the album is good and the Berzerk and Rap God are good signs. I still think Survival was probably an Interscope decision.. so I am worried but at the same time not really.

While I think Survival is a great song, I still wonder about its inclusion in the fucking album. I refuse to believe its the same version on the album 'till I actually hear the damn thing.
Carry on.

are people still thinking this gonna be recovery2? smh.. all doubt should of been eradicated by now.
the only reason survival sounds like it does is because cod got him to change to beat 5 times to fit their vision. if you'd heard it with the original beat, it wouldn't of crossed your minds..
em does not make albums that sound alike.. fact

It will be the original version tbh. They already have a video for it and shit.. Would seem odd to suddenly add another version

Since the beat changed 5 times, according to some sources, another version, with a different beat or a different person on the hook may emerge. I actually like the song and I really feel like I'm alone on that on this forum. As the album leaks and eventually releases, I may like other songs way more but for right now Em is 3/3 on song releases with his pitfalls being merely a few lines I DIDN'T like as much as the others. Can't really complain right now.

Would be interesting to hear how Survival sounded in the first place though.

If they release a different Survival I would pee my pants.

If the beat change was COD's doing that's extra concerning that they put it on MMLP2 realistically.. but it's still just 1 song so I am optimistic.. I just dont like the idea that artistically he isn't just putting out what HE wanted 100%.. but shit like I know what he really wants lol

I swear the Survival before the music video was FAR faster than the music video one.

Or I downloaded a sped up version, so I now know the lyrics too quickly

Even on his first 3 classics there are songs you don't like as much as others, I'm sure.

Eminem Show is my favorite album from him -- I don't listen to When The Music Stops as often as I do Soldier, TIC, SFTM, etc.

Just look at Survival as that kind of song. Not unbearably bad, just not on par with the rest of the album.

Survival is interesting. I have no problem with the flow, the beat, the hook -- but it just lacks something. Can't put my finger on it.

My fear is not that entire songs are gonna be bad, but that certain lines will be embarrassingly outdated or corny, and thus put a taint on the song.

"Make like k-fed and let yourself go" is one of those kinds of lines. I would love that song a lot more if that line wasn't on there. Rightly or wrongly, it loses its touch in my eyes. You may say that's too harsh, but early Em never had one sub par, corny, or dated line in his verses that tainted songs for me. This is a new thing now with him.

I'm just hoping that's limited to Berzerk and Survival and not on anything else. Rap God didn't have any lines that tainted its awesomeness to me, so I have hope.

I agree with the OP, this could definitely be on that kind of form.

One thing I don't get, is people saying, 'I don't get the references.. I have to look them up and everything!'

So what?

It improves your knowledge. I'm not being a dick or anything, or calling you lazy at all, I just speak from experience. With the people that aren't Post Encore/Relapse/Recovery fans (nothing wrong with that), they'll all tell you how much Em contributed to their Hip Hop schooling. I mean, Em was the first rapper i'd ever given the time of day to, when I heard SSLP in 99'. Through a few years of listening to Em, I was exposed to rappers i'd never heard of. Big L, Royce, Biggie, Tupac, NWA, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Dre, XZibit, Sticky Fingaz, Proof, Kuniva, Swifty, Pace One, Outlawz, Big Pun.. The list goes on.

Being a fan on someone means you want to understand EVERY SINGLE LINE.. Otherwise, why are you listening? The difference is, we listen to an artist with a brilliant knowledge and love of hip hop, old and new, fast and slow, bling bling and emotional. And we're lucky for that. So new guys, don't complain about not getting references, because most of us didn't get them when the original came out, but we did our research, and stand here today as better Hip Hop fans.

If he does it more through out the album, embrace that shit.
My Top 5 (in no order)-

Eminem
Big l
Biggie Smalls
Royce Da 5'9"
Jigga
