this album shocked me. as an eminem fan i didnt expect any of it. for that alone (not even mentioning the lyrics, samples, creativity, flow, voice, concepts, metaphors/punches, etc.) i think this was amazing.

Thoughts?

1st off you're an idiot for repeating the same shit in every post about people wanting him to stay the same.

The album is dope. I think he tied some loose ends and stayed true to himself. I don't think he pushed any envelopes personally.

As far as pushing the envelope, I hope this sparks more emotion in Hip Hop. Right now the only emotion we get is from people like Drake rapping out girls all the time. But we need more personal experiences in our lyrics. Eminem is known for this and this album is dripping with self reflection and personal emotion, more so than Recovery's poor excuse for reflection.

It beat SSLP, Relapse, and Encore for me after the first few listens.

The only other one it has a possibility of beating for me is Recovery but we'll see.

Won't touch his 2 flawless records but the fact that it's even in the conversation is impressive.

I was MUCH happier with MMLP2 than Recovery though.

Yeah, when I was listening to recovery for the first time, I was like:"What the fuck is this?"

I guess I'm a more rare fan of his. I enjoy all of his albums.

I still say Recovery is dope for the most part, this album was just better IMO. Same with Relapse and this album.

Definitely.

Em pushed the boundaries with rap skills, as he always does...

But I'm amazed at how significant this feels musically (not just production but in conjunction with how he used his voice and dramatic performance with the production).

It feels like a play, like a fucking madhouse musical play. It makes all of his other albums feel more like cute little compact rap albums with nice beats. This is epic music.

:worship: Great points, never thought of the bold part that way until now but you're absolutely right.

Yep.

And critics seriously credit Drake with bringing emotion in to hip-hop, LOL. Or thinking his self-analysis of his flaws is good? You have to be fucking kidding me.

Drake is fortune cookie philosophy and blockbuster movie schmaltz.

Em's self-analysis of his insecurities, his neurotic rambling over his flaws and his life's tragedies in this endless dramatic turmoil is fully realized on MMLP2. Genius album.
