i find it sad that he lets out all the sound effects, like the little voices, wich made it cooler to listen and had more impact on lines then an instrumental pause if you know what i mean

I can't even understand what he's saying in rhyme or reason. Seriously, don't tell me you can just listen to this without he lyrics and even understand what's going on

2000 eminem could never have written rap god or legacy. he just didn't know how or have the professional writing experience. he was consistently rhyming two, three, and four syllables instinctively back then. now full fucking sentences rhyme with each other. 2013/14 em is on a completely different level than anything else i've ever heard and that includes pill popper eminem and pop star eminem

Well Said. :y:

This is a point that most people aren't going to see until 10 years from now when hip-hop is the dominant genre in the world and Eminem is the standard in which people are compared to.

Actually Rhyme or Reason is one of the few ones I didn't need lyrics to understand.

i love the fact that hes more technical now, he hasn't really got much else to say these days, so hes focusing on the craft, and if it goes over retards heads, fuck em. i love that i have to engage my brain when listening to things, and when you go on rapgenius to analyze his tracks and notice hidden gems, it makes you appreciate his genius even more

Still doesn't mean his songs are better. Just his skills. Otherwise someone like big pun would be #2 faggots

Don't get me wrong I can appreciate it but the balance between lyricism and flow/sounding good is skewed. If it was all about lyrics you're basically saying Mmlp2 is better than mmlp

i was surprised rg took the lyrics down until the 5th, never seen them do that before. just goes to show how much respect he gets and deserves

therapist, you're pretty new to em's work aren't you? nothing you've made threads about hasn't already been completely run into the ground here and on other hiphop forums annually. no, it's not too lyrical for most listeners, most listeners just don't care to think that much into it. we're a minority, deal with it. people want a catchy tune with super general lyrics so that they can relate to everything.

Calandre wrote:Interesting that some of you "complain" about not getting the lyrics...

English is not my first language and I don't listen to that much music so if I really want to enjoy the lyrics -regarding of the language but especially in English- I have to read them a few times. It doesn't matter if it's Eminem or Leonard Cohen.

RE "too lyrical" wtf? that's rap, if they find them too complicated, dense or whatever maybe they should be listening to Justin Bieber

You basically just said the cynical version of what I said :P. If it's too lyrical for them it's too lyrical for them. I never speculated on whether or not that was good or bad, though if I had to pick I would say bad... for them...

i wasn't aiming any insult towards you brah, im on about the braindead fucks who listen to the current shite out there now, the fans of wacka flacka and the like. ive had to personally check things out on rapgenius just to verify certain lyrics of ems, but em does have substance aswell as all kinds of wordplay thrown into the mix.. i aint no hipster either, i hate hate hipsters

it wasn't lyrical enough for me tbh,

and again, rhymes have nothing to do with the lyrics. When we praise Lupe or Nas as the best lyricists ever, it's not for their rhymes.
