You're hilarious. They actually went extremely easy on that piece of trash album.

Should've called it "Encore- Absolute Garbage"

I like Encore and I laughed at this

I think given he has at least three classics, and he redeemed himself with Relapse (for some fans) and Recovery (for others) as well as MMLP 2, we can try to look back at Encore and laugh.

Ass Like That, Puke, Just Lose It, My First Single, One Shot Two Shot...

Lmao. Fucking Encore bro. :facepalm

I agree with everything said about the article besides Relapse vs Recovery. I do think "fake comeback" is a good term for Relapse, though. Great read :y:

Oh, and

Brainless wrote:Relapse < Encore

Encore had some meaningful songs about himself, Relapse was murder-horrorcore, with all fake songs.

What the fuck is a "fake song"?

That article seems like a nice overview to show the parents - such as mine - who still don't understand why their children have grown up liking his music.

Not that I feel the need to justify my musical preference to anyone, but since I LimeWire'd MMLP out of order, mine have always just honed in on the swearing and the murderous lyrics, and thrown selective deafness over everything else. I've always struggled to explain it, but this sums the albums up pretty well retrospectively

was he successful mainly because he was white? The answer’s yes – but not for the reason you think. His skin colour locked him out of the profitable gangsta rap market, and rapping about crime or drug dealing would have caused many listeners to accuse him of being inauthentic.

He wouldn't be in "the profitable gangsta rap market" even though he was black. Look at Kanye and Kendrick.

The Eminem Show (2002) – The Political One

One political song. Same as encore.

powerful album, even if a few weaker songs

Image

Relapse (2009) – The Pretend Comeback

Either way, a slight improvement was good enough for fans after a long break from music.

Image

Recovery (2010) – The Real Comeback

Both Not Afraid and Won’t Back Down were well received and showed how Eminem had changed his outlook.

True but there are political references peppered all over the album. White America, Square Dance, even My Dad's Gone Crazy made references to stuff going on at the time.

Whereas aside from Mosh, the rest of Encore was peppered with stuff you'd find on a Terrance and Phillip album.

Is it like Snakes On A Plane or other cheesy B movies? So bad that it's good? You have to check it out?

Or are we going with Eminem's say on the matter that in a few years it'll be Illmatic
