Personally, I like Encore, it was a good, funny album. The thing is that I see, he was doin' to much apologizing & tryin' to be Shady cause people asked & then they don't like it. Shady is a sick & immature person & that's what he did. I liked Shady when he had his run, but it's over. Let him go. I know some people can't swallow that but u have to. Em's grown up. I liked Fack too on his greatest hits, it was just funny, but people didn't like that either..... unsure on why.

I personally like this album. There might be 2 or 3 songs which I don't like to listen but the rest I really like. My favorite is Like Toy Soldiers.

rainman

ass like that

they all played in that order
if they were spread out more it woulda been better

I would call only Big Weenie as "a weak song".

But I agree that the tracklisting should be different.

Conclusion: Disappointing, but still contains some great songs.

The thing is, if you look at how some of the tunes that most proper Em fans dont like, did in the charts. They did quite well. So basically Em doesnt really have an incentive not to make tunes like Ass like that. Its a depressing thought. Maybe he will realise he got to commercial and give the true fans what they want. In turn he will get what he wants, Respect from proper Hip Hop fans opposed to respect from tinny-bopper school kids and pop music fans.

Ass like that wasn't Em bein' himself or Shady, he was Triumph the puppet dog. It was meant to be funny because of the beef they had & since he squashed it, he wanted to make a song. :flower: The song was still funny & good. IMO he's not too comercial because he barely does anything honestly. He hasn't sold out. But that's just my opinion.

sticcy z wrote:well i agree ecore did have some good songs but on his previous albums you could listen to the whole thing without skippin a track......encore had just some dissappointing bullshit like the dude said before me

i totally disagree the first 2 albums have more tracks i skip through than encore and eminem show

imo i have never listened to the whole of the first 2 albums (mmlp sslp) there were a lot of tracks on them i dont listen to but i have listened to encore from start to finnish every track without skipping loads of times.

i think it really depends on how you view the album imho

im also sick of defending encore and agree at the end of the day you either like it or you dont and i like it simple as

I don't understand how you can like the bulk of Encore or a song like "Fack" over Em's first 4 albums.

At least in the funny "filler songs" of TSSLP, TMMLP, & TES Em was still being a real MC, paying attention to detail and most importantly RAPPING on those tracks and occasinally showing some incredible skills.

On "Fack" or "Rain Man" it just sounds like some kid fucking around trying to be funny to me.

I too am tired of defending Encore. I've a friend who just hates the album although he is crazy about "The Eminem Show".
1. People expected too much from him on Encore cerntainly after his performance in the previous multi-platinium albums. Even with the fact that Em didnt strive much on Encore the way he did on others, Encore still had great hits with tight-productions from both him and Dre.
2. I agree to the fact that songs like "My first Single" or One shot 2 shot" didn't size up "lyrically" to other songs like "Evil Deeds" or "Mosh", but what of if Em released only like 11 or 12 songs (besides Skits) like other artists do incl. Jay-Z .
Think abt it, it wld turn out to be a great compilation although people might wonder why 12 not 20.
3. The combination of the back-stabbing news of his retirement and the cancelled European tour only made the sales no reach the supposed figure. If Em wld have only learned from Jay-Z & announced his retirement b4 releasing Encore, he wld have gotten the best out of the album.

MOSH : One of Em's lyrically best (he brings on the same personality like he did on "White America")
EVIL DEEDS : Exoctic flow and ryhme. literally a perfect and complete rap song.
NEVER ENOUGH : Great collab and beat production. Sucks up listeners' ears to a soothing vibe from 3 great artists
YELLOW BRICK ROAD: One of my favourite. A well told history in the right pattern of words
ETC....theses are my views, dont get me wrong

you clearly have no idea on how music works and you clearly do not understand the meaning of taking the piss, thats what those songs are aome d at they were taking the piss out of perves and thick bastards and at the same time put across in a the right context so they were understood to be exactly what they are pissing around songs

the firs 2 albums were nothing special they were a differe style and like another member said on this thread em has grown up and its good thaT HE has

those tracks you refer to as shite are more of his transmission into a more serious eminem simple as

How is fack a transition into a more mature Eminem?

His first three albums were better than Encore. Simple as that. You make like Encore more and thats fine but theres no comparison lyrically.
