Music, just like any art, is all about rarity. When Pac died they appreciated what he was saying more because they didn't think they were going to be getting any more of it. If Eminem were to die tomorrow (God forbid) then please believe Relapse would sell 10 million copies. Just like if Jay or Nas died then they'd be immortalized as the best to ever do it. Put on the same level as Pac and Biggie even though they might not necessarily be. Anyways, the point is that of course Pac sold more after he died because every time something "new" came out it was always "Omg is this IT!?" He should have been making those numbers when he was alive, but just like Talib he was being critically acclaimed, not commercially. Once he started on that Gangsta shit then he started to sell more.

Edit: Do you think Life After Death would have sold as much had Biggie not died?

yes, obviously. lol

Just like if Jay or Nas died then they'd be immortalized as the best to ever do it.

a lot of people think like that already

Pac sold more after he died because every time something "new" came out it was always "Omg is this IT!?"

not really true, well. im confused on the last part "is this it?" ha so you can correct me. or just clear it up for me. pac sold more because he was murdered. plain and simple

I said he sold more after he was murdered. What I mean is that he dies, then whenever shit comes out it's WAY more monumental. If someone were to drop some random freestyle tomorrow, like Jay for example. It'd be cool, but it wouldn't be anything huge. But if some old ass, unreleased Pac shit surfaced it would create a MUCH larger buzz.

No, bro, it's not. If you look at his 1st two albums (2pacalypse Now and Strictly 4 my N.I.G.G.A.Z.) which were a much more thoughtful style, they sold ok, but nothing special. Then he switched it up a little bit with Me Against the World and sold a quarter mil his 1st week. He had a style much more similar to All Eyez on Me. His style DID in fact change and his sales DID increase as he was spitting something more similar and a little more dumbed down and as his name grew.

Anyways, the fact of the matter is that IF Eminem is compared to Pac it's dumb because they're nothing alike. They're the kings of their own times and have had completely different influences on music and pop-culture.

PAC WAS NOWHERE NEAR AS TALENTED AS EMINEM

the ONLY reason pac became as big as he did was cuz the twat got murdered

if pac had NEVER got murdered he wud never of been as big

eminem is and always will be far superior to pac and anyone else out there

man u must not have any sense of rap history cuz all eyes on me is 9x platinum and that came out before his death, sure it might of sold more after his death but hes had numerous hits and albums that went platinum prior 2 his death

thats what i said, he sold more after he was murdered, the point i was making was that. the beefing shit had a lot to do with sales to. but if jay z did drop a freestyle tomorrow, look on other boards, dudes be dick riding him. i mean it wouldnt be as crazy if a new pac one came out though. i know what your saying. but you should check out different boards. you do make good points.

Anyways, the fact of the matter is that IF Eminem is compared to Pac it's dumb because they're nothing alike. They're the kings of their own times and have had completely different influences on music and pop-culture

oh well techniclly you can compare any rapper, doesn't mean there anyway close to the same. pac and eminem did influence the rap game a lot, in different ways though yes. but if you think about it they did have some similarities.

its good to at least talk to someone on this board who has some hip hop knowledge who wont just have biased decisions.

but yeah, relapse :smoking:

Lol I love when this happens. We agree but stress different points so it gives the illusion of a disagreement. And I understand completely. Too many conversations are just "...well... EMINEM RULES YEAH!"

No. MMLP will probably always be his best album.

I don't know about that. I think SSLP was actually better. Brain damage, gulity conscience, my name is, role model, just don't give a fuck, still don't give a fuck, rock bottom, drug ballod. I don't think Stan, Kill me, the way i am match up with some of these songs.

Stan is better than Brain Damage, Guilty Conscience, My Name Is, Just Don't Give A Fuck, and Still Don't Give A Fuck combined.

Drug Ballad is on MMLP, and it's Kill You, not Kill "Me".
