because '97 Bonnie & Clyde is scarier & more unsettling. shouting @ your wife before you kill her is scary, sure, but not quite as frightening or twisted as a father rationalizing to his daughter, in baby terms she can understand, his mother's murder, while professing his love for her & turning her into an unwitting partner-in-crime.
