I guess nobody on the forum is happy about it but it wasn't made for us core Eminem fans anyway. On top of it even though it's totally not my thing I can say it's not that bad either... I mean Em's part. It's a radio reach that fucking murdered it on the charts.
Why are you so fucking mad about it? You should either just like it or leave it.... No big deal...

Here is the key, this song is a radio friendly song that comes out now to attract the general public, not Eminem fans in particulary. I expected a track like this.

Song is ok, I can't say is bad. I don't like it much because of the pop beat. But people are overreacting a lot. Is just one song on a full album. Wait to hear the rest.

But to name the album Marshall Mathers LP 2, the anti-pop, rebelious, fuck everything master piece, probably his best work, and put out an average, forced, anthem and a below-average pop song...
I wouldn't mind if that was the best he could do now, but to release Rap God, technical / lyrical work of art, shows us his potential even today.
One would think that he does not need songs like these on this kind of album. I mean he reached all types of audiences on Recovery, so now he can dedicate an album for his real fans, that appreciate his older work.

But no, let me dye my hair blonde, get my fans hopes up with 2 good singles, than fuck it up with 2 sell out songs made just for money.
Let me put as much pop artists and as less rappers I can on my revisiting album.

Survival is an anthemic song, but it is NOWHERE near pop bullshit. Em's been making anthems since fucking 2002, and if you can't deal with that, get the fuck out. And if you think that's what MMLP is about, you're stupider than I thought.

My advise to you is... give it some time & analyze later when you hear the whole album.
It is going to have enough TMMLP-esque songs on it... I'm sure about it. All the rest is totally necessary 'cuz it's 2013... times are too different & Eminem can't afford to satisfy his core fans only. That would be incredibly bad business & would definitely damage his status of a top selling superstar which is the most important thing no matter what.
You have to deal with the music business the way it is... it's literally like it or leave it... no need of disappointments or whatever kind of drama.
We all know albums have been compromised for a while now & that they'll be compromised further as well...
Believe or not... they've done great balancing those 4 songs out. They do phenomenally good, wait until the album drops.
Em will hit very very hard even for his own standards... just watch!

It's not about money... it's about his status. Media puppets have been waiting on decline of his commercial career for so long now... no matter how good an album would be they'll capitalize if it didn't sell.
Plus like I've said many times this is what rappers or music artists in general do... it is all about business.
